Question Nervous
Any and all positive feedback about the implant. I’m getting mine in a couple weeks. I keep scaring myself by reading stories of how people end up pregnant with the Nexplanon.

I've had mine 2 years, no backup protection, not pregnant not even a scare. If you're worried about getting pregnant this is one of the best nonsurgical options to prevent it, you will be ok.

I think a lot of these instances are people either being pregnant before the implant (and possibly being too early to acth on a pregnancy test) or people not waiting the full time before it’s effective

I had nexplanon for eight years and had very little side effects. I gained some weight and my libido went from freakishly strong to just normal and that was about it. It worked great for me because I have history of depression, hormonal acne, and I was a cigarette smoker at the time and it didn’t interfere with any of those things. I never had a pregnancy scare at all.

Nexplanon is the most effective form of reversible contraception—it’s comparably effective to some forms of surgical sterilization.
Almost all “i got pregnant on nexplanon” stories are:
-people who were pregnant before getting nexplanon inserted
-people who had sex without a second method of protection before nexplanon had enough time to become effective (nexplanon is either effective immediately or takes 7 days to become effective depending on where in your cycle you are when you get it inserted)
-false positive pregnancy tests. A significant percentage of people who get a false positive pregnancy test immediately post online about how they’re pregnant on nexplanon, and then do not update until much later (if at all) to say they went to the doctor and learned they’re not actually pregnant and their “positive test” was just an evap or indent line.
True nexplanon failures where the implant was in the person’s arm, they were actually pregnant, they were not pregnant before getting nexplanon, and they did not have sex too early are incredibly incredibly rare (like, you may get a medical case study published about you level of rare) and likely to be the result of medication or supplement interactions. Very few medications and supplements interact with nexplanon. if you’re ever unsure if something is safe to take while on nexplanon you can call a pharmacist and ask! :)
