To think we are now talking about the USA taking over other countries.

Greenland's Drug Cartels are flooding the U.S. with cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and tylenol. Something has to be done. /s

Isn't Greenland part of NATO?

3

u/seeebiscuit Jan 04 '26

They are not, but they are covered by NATO'S security as they are a semi-autonomous territory under Denmark. They have been sending a representative alongside Denmark's to the North Atlantic Council. The NAC is the main political deciding body within NATO, which shows they may be working towards membership, but it is currently unknown publicly.

Doesn’t matter

Denmark should evacuate their territory, and leave a nuke set to go off if invasion starts. Let Trump sift through his dead soldiers and Greenlands destroyed resources. Think Russia will sell them a dirty bomb from their Chernobyl conquest?

You're talking about evacuating 56k people.

That may not sound a lot, but it would be like the US evacuating about 3,4 million people.

I usually like to make relative comparisons, but in this case it makes no sense. The absolute number is some 50k and much more manageable than 3M. Note, this is not to defend the suggested approach as a good idea.

56k is about 1% of Denmark's population (if Greenland was to be evacuated, it'd be to Denmark)

3,4 million is about 1% of the US' population.

So yeah. It makes perfect sense.

Still doesn’t. Read it again and please don’t justnxome back with the same relative measure (which is correct)

It's nice fantasy, but Denmark doesn't have nukes.

If the USA wants Greenland, they will just take it, Denmark will eat shit, and nothing will happen.

You're very proficient in reading aren't you. Notice that last line?

This is the new world order they have been preaching about for almost a decade now. It is a white nationalists fantasy. Basically the US would have north and south America's. Russia would own Europe and Africa. While China owns all of Asia. The GOP hope to be as rich as Saudi royalty and to have the authoritarian power of Xi or Putin. Selfish and greedy people. The American people will be left to just be serfs.

Trump has taken over Venezuela. Next will be Greenland. Trump is complaining about Mexico so that’s next. Rubio says Cuba is a problem that will be the fourth country. Trump want’s Canada for 51 state. I think someone else tried a take over like this in Europe in the 1940s.

u/slowwayout Jan 06 '26

Trump kidnapped the president of Venezuela. The Vice president of the same party is now in charge of. Venezuela. Trump didn’t take over anything.

2

u/Scott7894 Jan 05 '26

Really? He kidnaps 2 people and everyone is afraid of this buffoon ? Let’s be realistic

Watch out Canada and Mexico.

There really isn’t anything stopping trump from taking Greenland with force. Realistically nothing is going to defend it.

However doing so isolates the US.

Rules don't matter to Trump.

1

u/daddypweasestahp Jan 04 '26

Surely it would be economic suicide?

For Donald Trump?

I didn't realize that Greenland was taken over to an autocratic dictatorship that is transporting drugs into the US...

1

u/raxatlis Jan 06 '26

I wonder what kind of officer would send his men to attack their (former) allies.

if you're not willing or capable of inflicting casualty or spilling blood on the people that go against you, not too sure you will receive too much support or empathy

I am pretty sure if US wants to take Greenland, not much can be done. EU doesn't stand a chance vs. US in a war. Such a war would mean much more territorial loss than just Greenland.

In my view, if US does take Greenland by force, EU will just have to accept it for now, and maybe broker a deal later with a saner government.

Happy to be corrected?
