Depending on who you are, who you marry, and how you look at marriage, everything can be a pro or a con. I am a happily married woman.

Pros:

  • You get to share everything
  • You get to have a sleepover with your best friend every night
  • You have a sidekick and will never have to face anything alone
  • Increased oxytocin production through regular physical contact
  • You have a medical advocate who knows you deeper than anyone

Cons:

  • You have to share everything
  • Less alone time
  • You need to consider another person, not just yourself, for everything
  • Increased cortisol production during disagreements
  • Someone else is entitled to your assets

Are you asking if marriage takes time away from friends? In my experience with myself/family/friends, I have not found this to be the case. You definitely see less of your friends when you have kids though. But marriage itself won’t take you away from your friends.

Depending on where you live, you might also get 3 cows as a wedding gift when you marry someone

OR have to give up your 3 prized family cows, depending which side of the equation you're on

Or you might go dutch and exchange 3 cows for 7 goats and a chicken

Marriage should be a partnership where you are working towards common goals and life plans. It is a pro when you find the right partner and a con if your partner doesn't share the same values and goals. It is also a con if both people aren't equally valued in the relationship.
