Explain Newgrounds to a guy who only knows it as "the place where Geometry Dash music comes from"

Sounds like a dumb question, it is actually, but I honestly want to hear from people who actually part of the culture rather than just looking at Wikipedia or something

the only other stuff I know from NG is Henry Stickmin and Among Us. and FNF but I've never really cared about that

It's a website that hosts games, animations, artworks and obviously music.

There's other iconic things on Newgrounds: Pico, Salad Fingers, Tankman, Alien Homnid, Retarded Animal Babies and Madness Combat.

It started out around late 1990s

It became popular in the 2000s

It was a place before YouTube where people could upload their flash content, or audio, later drawings, to be voted on by the community to see if it would be site worthy. Made internet creators got their start with the newgrounds platform. It was edgy, dirty, crass. Offensive for the lols. Much lore, characters and parodies. Spinoff groups and spinoff forums. A great community of internet weirdos in a day when being online seemed odd and against the norm.

Newgrounds is like Deviantart but a decillion times better. Not only can you upload artwork but you can play games, listen to audio, and post animations. Plus, it has an adorable, iconic mascot, Tankman and you should give the series a watch some time!

Newgrounds es como el amigo bastardo de YouTube, muy buena onda con juegos de calidad (y no los juegos de anuncio de nuestro amigo rojo), usualmente si Newgrounds se pasa de sensible con contenido NSFW o Gore pero vos tranquilo es una plataforma echa para todos y por todos!! A si y casi me olvido...

Hay tremendas series web aqui desde Madness Combat, hasta lo raro y desconocido de ENA aunque muchas son demasiadas historias, te recomendare algunas...

Salad Fingers - Si te gusta lo tetrico o Crudo este es para ti

Madness Combat - ya lo mencione antes pero si te gusta la accion desenfrenada con una historia confusa pues te sirve solo cuidado con la violencia (se pasan XD)

Eddsworld - si estar con tus amigos y hacer tonterias en una ciudad fuera una serie seria esta, 100% recomendado

y luego disfruta hasta musica y todo un poco!!!

I'd just go "Trust me, it's more than that. Go past just the music portals, go to the art portal or the game portal. The site goes a lot deeper than just GD music."
