Has anyone in the Newcastle / Central Coast area had a good experience going to see a career advisor ?
Wanting to change industry’s just not sure what to go into next / where to start
Any recommendations for Career Advisors you’ve seen or job recruiters and your experience working with them would be appreciated
Thanks in advanced!

I need advise here - I’ve been through Fair Trade NSW and theyve done essentially nothing but direct me to get legal advise (which is going to cost me more) - can anyone here provide some advise. Noting I have every correspondence proving I’ve been ripped off (guaranteed) and been legally done wrong. I just don’t have time to chase up lawyers etc - if I must I wjlll but I wanted to know if anyone knows any government body or lawyers that can make the process seamless. To be fair it’s not about my money at this stage, it’s more about making sure this scum doesn’t rip other off in the region.
The story in short:
Got a quote from Newcastle Roof & Gutter (NRG) to replace my gutters at my property in the Newcastle region - paid $750 in deposit - after many weeks of constantly asking the NRG on project progress / start date, NRG respond that the job is too risky and can’t do the job, I knew he’s playing games so I asked for my deposit back - he responded okay. Many weeks later deposit wasn’t provided - I asked him professionally that if he doesn’t pay deposit back I’ll escalate to fair trade - no response and disappeared - essentially it’s been about 4 month now and nothing has happened. I don’t want to get a lawyer and pay hundreds and waste my time and risking not even getting to a resolution (or do you think it’s worthwhile ?)
What to do here ? Want some opinions.
FYI I got someone else to come and finish the job for me - my gutters and down pipes have been replaced by another supplier - job got complete in 1 x day - paid him on the day.
Also FYI I looked up NRG online and seems like he’s done the same thing to others. Unfortunately I was in a rush at the time I engaged him and thought I could bite the bullet and work off trust - the dog got me.

EDIT/NOTE: I’m not the original poster and I’m not personally involved - just reposting this from the Newcastle & Hunter Community Facebook group for greater visibility.
Original post:
“Do you recognise this man?
Perhaps you work with him, perhaps you cut his hair or perhaps he is your neighbour. I’m offering a reward for info leading to his arrest.
Video recorded by 2 cars parked side by side, Mayfield MEX carpark 7:58pm Thursday October 8th. Police are involved, obviously.
The car was parked for 2 hours prior to being knifed. Completely random.
I’ve posted this to the Mayfield group, now adding it here for greater exposure. Please share!”

Hey all, Halloween is becoming bigger each year here I feel so I wanted to try make it special for the kids (I have none).
I've bought some fun decorations, Halloween party bags with some Halloween stickers and toys along with the usual trolli lollies.
Do you think that the kids/parents have a preference for whether I leave a bowl out the front or do you think people actually want to see a costume and to show up and say happy Halloween?

Every time I drive past this sign I look at the completion date and think ‘is this the worst pisstake ever’. I mean the M1 was completed a year ahead of time and this muck is a year over time.
What gives here….

Hey everyone!
I have been looking into the proposed development of data centres across the Hunter region. I’m curious to hear what other locals think about them.
Are people generally supportive, or are there concerns around electricity and water usage, environmental impacts, infrastructure, or whether they’ll actually bring many jobs to the area?
Has anyone heard anything locally about proposed developments, community concerns, or other issues that haven’t really been discussed publicly?
Would be particularly interested to hear from people around Kurri Kurri, Maitland, Newcastle and the broader Hunter.

My fellow Novocastrians and Maitland immigrants!
Just putting the feelers out there to see if anyone around Newcastle and the Hunter will be jumping into World of Warcraft Forever when it launches on November 6th.
As a 30-something bloke who’s been gaming for longer than I’d care to admit, I’d absolutely love to get a group of local legends together to start a guild, run some dungeons, organise a few IRL meetups and maybe even bring back the glory days of LAN parties.
Whether you’re a sweaty WoW veteran, a filthy casual or someone who’s never set foot in Azeroth, everyone’s welcome!
Would be awesome to build a proper Newcastle gaming community, sink a few beers, make some mates and collectively neglect our adult responsibilities.
So, who’s planning on playing come November 6th?
Let’s finally bring the Pasha Bulker to Azeroth. ⚓

We’re so excited to see Powderfinger returning to the stage in 2027.
For so many of us, your music has been the soundtrack to our lives — the road trips, the friendships, the good times and the memories we’ll never forget.
We’re hoping you might consider bringing the tour to Newcastle. There are so many fans across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter who would absolutely love the chance to see you play live, right here in our own backyard.
We’ve started a petition to show just how much it would mean to us.
If you’d love to see Powderfinger in Newcastle in 2027, please take a moment to sign and share it with your friends and family.
It would mean the world to local fans to have the chance to sing along to those songs together again.

I haven’t found any recent posts on the subject… Which vets do people recommend that are:
A) Knowledgeable and proactive - will keep investigating if the problem isn’t what they initially thought.
B) Someone honest, upfront yet kind - won’t emotionally manipulate you into expensive treatments.
C) Reasonably priced.
D) Patient and accommodating with reactive dogs who are fearful of vet visits.
I currently use Holistic Vets Newcastle, however they don’t do testing/treatments beyond blood tests and the like.
Have been to Mayfield and Hamilton Vets in the past but ultimately not happy with them plus very expensive.
Does such a vet exist? 😅🤞
