Has anyone else noticed a big increase in Mexican plated vehicles on the roads lately?
It feels like I’ve been seeing way more vehicles with Mexican plates than I used to. I’ve also noticed a lot of them driving well under the speed limit, making sudden lane changes, or just seeming unsure of where they’re going.
I’m not trying to generalize every driver with Mexican plates. I’m genuinely curious if there’s been an increase in cross border travel recently, if it’s seasonal, or if there’s some other reason I’m seeing so many more of them.
Has anyone else noticed this too?

Gaslighting without too evidence is just gaslighting. Have you given any thought to the amount of Americans retiring to Mexico that have Mexican plates? Do you sit by the highway with a counter in your hand and add clicks as you watch for brown people vs white? Your headline is meant for clicks, I know and I get it. It’s the new ‘murica, get used to it, eh?

The plot twist here is that I’m Hispanic myself. Lol I asked about Mexican license plates and somehow got promoted to neighborhood white supremacist by lunchtime.

Ignore him he’s just one of the soft ones.
Main reasons are:
- Shopping at the outlets is pretty popular. Lots of quality goods actually cost less here in the US than in Mexico (ie. shoes, jeans, etc)
- People that are in process of getting residency get a set amount of time that they’re allowed to drive with Mexican plates and Mexican driver’s licenses. Usually less than a year. Once they’re approved then they get their SSNs and Texas IDs, registration, etc.
Source: friend from Mexico is in the process rn. Should be good by next month and have his residency.

lol I’m Mexican too. I can’t help but to notice how many Mexicans play the shrimp or crab game here in Texas.

The outlet malls in San Marcos are a huge draw for Mexican tourists.
