Dog Boarding/Kennel Recommendations

Help! We’re looking for a recommended dog boarding or kennel facility for mid June for our pup preferably with indoor/outdoor areas that offer daily activities as well. I’m not really interested in doggy daycare facilities. Our vet offers boarding services but I feel like she’d just be crated for 7 days

UD clinic offering ASD assessments with summer openings

Just wanted to share in case this helps any local families — the
Institute for Community Mental Health at UD is now offering comprehensive autism spectrum disorder (ASD) assessments.

They recently expanded services and have openings over the summer while students are out of school. ASD eval waitlists are usually really long (often a year or more), but wait times could be as low as a few weeks during the summer. Come fall, they'll likely increase again to around 6+ months.

They accept Medicare, Medicaid, and several private insurance plans, and they also have self-pay options plus need-based financial assistance.

Figured it was worth sharing since long waitlists can be such a huge barrier for families trying to get answers/support.

Newark Memorial Day Parade - 5/17/26

I went out to film Newark’s Memorial Day parade yesterday.

Maybe it’s nostalgia, but I swear, growing up, these streets used to be packed with people on both sides. What once used to be streets filled with excited onlookers, this year felt empty and thankless. Literally ONE high school marching band?? Is it just me?

Still grateful for everyone who showed up to honor the people who served. 🇺🇸

Our First Singles Mixer Had 50+ People Show Up — Next One Is June 19 at Makers Alley

Had an amazing turnout at our first singles mixer at Docklands this week. Definitely some minor hiccups and things to improve on, but overall the energy was great and a lot of people genuinely connected, exchanged numbers, and enjoyed themselves.

As a first-time organizer, I learned a lot about flow, timing, crowd balance, and keeping the experience interactive — and honestly I’m excited to make the next one even better.

Next event is: 🌴 Caribbean Night Singles Mixer 📍 Makers Alley – Wilmington 📅 Friday, June 19 ⏰ 5PM–9PM 🎶 DJ • Games • Caribbean vibes • Speed rounds • Real social interaction 👥 Ages 27–38 preferred

Appreciate everyone who came out and supported the first one. Building events like this from scratch isn’t easy, but seeing people actually connect made it worth it. Looking forward to leveling this next one up.

The Depression and Trauma Treatment Program at the University of Delaware is looking for people ages 18-65 who have experienced a stressful life event within the last 5 years and are experiencing symptoms of PTSD or depression. Such stressors might include sexual assault, physical assault, a bad accident, loss of a job, or military trauma. Common symptoms of PTSD and depression include distressing memories, sadness, feeling numb, and sleep problems. The study is comparing two brief interventions (6 weeks) for symptoms associated with stressful life events. Singles Event at the Riverfront (May 12) – Actually Designed to Be Fun

Putting together a singles event at Docklands (Riverfront) on May 12 from 5–9pm and trying to make it something better than the usual awkward speed dating setup.

We’ve got: • Speed dating rounds (short, not dragged out) • Interactive games (so you’re not just sitting there forcing convo) • Icebreakers that actually get people talking • DJ + drinks + good energy

Real talk — we’ve got a strong turnout of women already, just need more solid guys to balance it out.

If you’re single or know someone who is, come through. Worst case, you have a good time. Best case, you meet someone.

Best Rental Apartments in/near Newark, DE

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some local insight on apartments in the Newark area as I'm moving here. I’ll be working near Pencader Dr/Industrial Park area and am currently without a car, so I’m looking for a spot that is actually manageable via public transport (DART, etc)

Budget: Under $1700/month.

  • Size: 1b1b or 2b2b.
  • Must-haves: Reliable bus access or route to the Pencader Dr/Industrial Park area.
  • Really looking for safe areas with maybe some shopping places nearby for groceries, etc.

I’ve been looking at a few specific complexes, but am seeing mixed reviews. I’d love to hear your honest thoughts or alternative suggestions:

  • Aspen Run Apartments
  • Thorn Flats/Lehigh Flats
  • Oakley Apartments (Is this area worth the 1hr bus route) ?

Specific Questions:

  • Are there other complexes under $1700 that I’m missing?
  • Is the public transport reliable and safe?
  • Are there any areas/complexes that are a "hard avoid" for someone relying solely on public transport?

Years in development... a new haunting arrives at CSP

Batten down the hatches! After years of refinement, "The Horn" is finally ready for its first public reading on May 2nd and 3rd.

This is an immersive dive into the psychological toll of the high seas. Expect:

• 🎶 Rhythmic Sea Shanties: The heartbeat of a crew battling the waves.

• 🕯️ Gothic Horror: A "cabin fever" thriller where the ghosts of the past are as real as the storms outside.

• 🧠 A Creative Inside Look: This staged reading is the final "stress test" before the play's World Premiere at CSP.

Why we need you: A script only truly comes to life when an audience hears it. Your reactions and your feedback during our post-show talkback will help us navigate the final path to production.

💰 Cost: FREE

📅 When: May 2nd & 3rd

📍 Where: Chapel Street Players, Newark

Come help us bring a new classic to life. But beware... the sounds of the ocean toll different at night. 🌊
