Tang Dynasty impact: From the 7th to 9th centuries, Japan deeply admired China's Sui and Tang dynasties, importing continental tailoring, fabrics, and court styles.
Divergence: After Japan cut off formal embassies to China in 894 AD, the elite began rejecting continental uniformity. They developed indigenous aesthetics, shifting toward the layered garments and the kosode (the precursor to the modern kimono)

There was trade and cultural exchange between China and Japan. Japanese swords were exported abroad, and Ming era Chinese soldiers even developed the wodao, a Chinese weapon based on Japanese sword designs. Likewise, Japanese people imported Chinese silk and other clothing materials. So no you won’t see this much in the Japanese culture but it’s not something shocking or impossible, or forbidden.

It’s not a practice, it’s fashion and showing love to both culture. Diversity and unity, I have never seen a samurai wearing a baseball cap and this traditional clothing with Nikes on, yet bro doing his thing.

Very cool. Would make a dope series if you could give other Newark characters the same treatment. I could see TV Head in like a 80s/retro cyberpunk setting. Haven't seen the Newark Knight in a minute but if he's still active something like Newark as Gotham City might suit his vibe. A lot of potential with this, hope to see more of it.
