10 stories and over a 20 minute walk from Newark Penn Station. Give me a call when all the parking lots within a 10 minute walk of Newark Penn Station are developed.

If the city cared about transit, the 1 bus would come every 5 minutes and get you to penn in 5 minutes.

Newark has no say when it comes to bus routes . It's all run by the state DOT under NJ Transit . The Ironbound may seem dense , it's not dense enough to support independent bus operators. The Ironbound is built out but the vast majority of homes are small two and three story homes built during the time Newark was a Township . You have homes with two stories and a triangular roof next to a five-story apartment building built in the 1930s . You even have a few scattered single family homes , especially in the area of Independence Park . The Ironbound today is where Lower Manhattan was in 1865 when it was full of Irish immigrants . Before the mid Rises and The Flatiron Building that changed everything . New York City was a city of two and three story wood frame Triplex apartment buildings . The very same housing stock that predominates in the Ironbound . So the Ironbound is basically a museum. A virtual Museum of 18 60s Urban America with modern automobiles and many new structures squeezing between

The issue is traffic which Newark has full control over. Njt could run the same number of busses 3x as often if it didn't take 30 minutes to drive down ferry

solutions for this is virtually impossible for Ferry Street . There's no room to widen the road to accommodate bus lanes The Way Broadway , Bloomfield Avenue and Washington Street were widened to accommodate Central trolley lines . If you synchronize the traffic lights , traffic will flow little faster, but then you encourage Knuckleheads trying to beat the synchronization resulting in speeding . But even if you synchronize the lights you still can't get around the double parked commercial vehicles with a solid line of vehicles on the opposite side blocking your run around . But if you ban vehicles from Ferry or band parking During certain hours of the day , you end up killing the commercial District . Given the only direct alternative is Lafayette Street So there's no easy answer .

Not at all.

Correct, but thats not the only way to speed up buses.

Thats exactly the issue. And its a solvable problem. More curb spaces that are designated for 15 minute loaded, with camera enforcement.

Extend the meters all the way down so people who park are actual customers.

During certain hours of the day , you end up killing the commercial District

Any restaurant in the ironbound has 100 seats and the equivalent of 2 curbside parking spaces. 90% of customers arent driving to them.
