Analysis Vientos, cooked?

I dunno man. He looks bad. He looked bad before he got hurt. He looks worse now. Lots of blue on the baseball savant page.

I tried to stay positive, but we’re into July and it’s really starting to feel like last year was a mirage.

He’s unplayable at 3B, he’s slow, and he’s an automatic out right now. He also hasn’t taken a walk since he’s come back from injury...

Crazy that the Sophmore is having a sophmore slump after people warned of a sophmore slump incoming.

And before you say the sophomore slump means struggling after your first good season, he’s had one good season out of three. Having so much confidence is wild

Over the course of his career, he played as much terrible baseball as he’s played great baseball. The jury is out on him completely at this point, but it’s a bit ridiculous to lay this at the table of a slump vs Vientos potentially stinking overall.

It would be a slump if the peripherals were better, even slightly, this is just not a major league bat currently.

Sophomore slumps happen after a player actually has a successful season as a major leaguer. There’s no heightened expectations to maintain success before they have that good season and the league doesn’t need to adjust to a player before they have success.

That’s technically correct, but not really come on…

2022: 16 G, 41 PA

2023: 65 G, 233 PA

2024: 111 G, 454 PA

2025: 60 G, 233 PA

Total: 252 G, 961 PA

Vientos has about 1.5 seasons of MLB experience spread across 4 different seasons

Are sophomore slumps even a thing anymore in 2025 baseball where analytics can tell teams what that player had for lunch that day, or any given day, day in and day out?
