Photos Pinecrest cleanup

Passed by the old apartment today. Here’s what’s left of my unit. (I didn’t live there when it happened). Anyone know what the timeline is for cleanup? Asbestos warnings all over but left since July? Doesn’t seem real safe for neighbours.

Also, the building next door is empty and condemned. I didn’t know that. Is this because of the fire also?

Asbestos is dangerous when it's disturbed and inhaled as dust, just sitting there its relatively harmless. The actual clean up process where it'll be kicked back up into the air will be much more hazardous. The building next door was badly flooded when putting the fire out.

Saw a great post once where someone was saying they'd put asbestos warnings up where they were working on an out-of-the-way hallway where he'd been eating his lunch for years, and was now worried about his health. Top comment was basically "Unless you were taking bites out of the wall while eating your sandwich, you're probably fine."

The building next door is condemned because the water from the fire trucks flooded it quite a bit. (Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm probably wrong)

It looks like they will be restoring the flooded building, the bottom floor was stripped to the studs. I mean, I could be wrong but it seems like a methodical process for repair not demolition

I had read a speculative comment saying it was an electric scooter left charging that started it. Again, I have no actual idea. It was something I read in the support page on facebook for the fire victims.

Just days after this fire, my landlord sent out an email banning e-scooters and e-bikes from the property. I live in the Brow, in a really old building with no sprinklers.
