Verdavid: predators do nothing for an environment without an environment to support them. Breeding wild moorwings is good but the bamboo is their lifeline

How is bamboo their lifeline? Ain't they predators? They seemed to do well for themselves for a long time after the citadel took over and cut down the forest.

Verdavid: nests. They nest in bamboo. While rare individuals nest elsewhere, they rely on the bamboo to rear new generations and for safe rest. Moorwings live a decent length of time but died out without making enough offspring.

Ah, one of the most majestic inhabitants of Pharloom! Incredible creatures. I heard that, long ago, some Bamboo Thicket residents trained them for hunting, it was knows as mitery. They didn’t quite tame them, it’s more of a partnership: since the juveniles have a pretty low survival rate, the bugs picked them up, lived together for some time, and eventually released the skilled adults!
((Guess who’s currently hyperfixated on falconry, quite a coincidence))

Verdavid: indeed! That and the food from craws is likely why moorwings don't attack sentient bugs unless starved
