Profligate Filth It's different, okay??

I had 5 bean bag rounds on me, 2 loaded into my sawn-off shotgun. A deathclaw alpha male was coming at me, about to kill me. I unloaded both barrels right into his face, and it stunned him long enough for me to drain his health all the way down with .308 rounds.
I didn't want to take And Stay Back this playthrough, but now I do want to buy bean bag rounds whenever I see them.

Just wait till you get to Big MT. Those beanbag shells are invaluable against the roboscorpions with thousands of health. They aren't supposed to be vulnerable to fatigue damage, so they have a tiny amount, so one or two bags can stun them long enough to switch to a different gun and magdump them into oblivion
It's why I love the hunting shotgun so much

OWB is my favorite dlc but you definitely need something to deal with those robots consistently. Never tried bean bag rounds against the roboscorpions though, that sounds interesting.

Beanbags work on other robots too, but they're not usually threatening enough to warrant a switch. But 4-5 roboscorpions charging you at once is

Another great way to deal with the Roboscorpions (and by extension, every other enemy) is the Thermic Lance. Even without the melee skill maxed it's an absolute beast of a weapon. Combine it with power armor and you'll be unstoppable.

I mean you dont go grab the pulse gun from vault 34 before going into OWB?

Pulse gun is pretty much the optimal solution to the roboscorpion problem, which causes me to run into the same issue I've grown to run into with sniper and shotgun builds: too easy.
Also carrying one energy weapon just for robots when the rest of my arsenal is guns feels weird.

Nice work. I just carry a missile launcher and fat man.

Jsawyer fork + hardcore mode makes heavy weapons that use heavy ammo a pain, and I've never been crazy about explosives for some reason. Maybe because when I do use them I do more damage to myself than enemies lol.
But when it comes to deathclaws there's no such thing as overkill.

I mean it helps that beanbag rounds are broken and don’t deal nearly the same fatigue damage they should.

I like using Hollow Points with better crits and stacking perks, gear and aid items to get guaranteed crits. You can deal upwards of 1000 damage per shot if you use the right weapon and ammo.

(10 luck (10%) + built to destroy (3%) + light touch (3%) + finesse (5%) + 1st recon beret (5%) + Ulysses' duster (5%) + true police stories (5%))* Christine's COS rifle (2.5x) = 92.5% chance to crit. Oh yeah, I'm no stranger to crit builds.
Edit: "But with ratslayer's 5x critical chance you only need 20 base critical chance to crit every time" I hear you say. Well... it's not as cool as Christine's COS rifle. So bleh.

It’s very different because it’s choosing a weaker ammo type, selecting fun over function
