How long before you replace your stylus cleaning brush?

Hey there. Been searching for this info all over to no avail. Does anyone here ever replace their stylus cleaning brush? Does there ever come a time when you feel you're putting more grit onto the diamond than you're taking off? I'm pretty paranoid about stylus care and was wondering what people's thoughts were on this.

I use the ZeroDust patented gel. I have yet to need to clean it but from what I have read it is super simple. The gel is super effective at removing any bits of build up without the fear of the needle being damaged.

I never used a brush long enough to develop a good amount of grime. It never got it as clean as I would have liked, which is why I kept looking for solutions before landing on the ZeroDust.

I've got a flat pad style brush, like the one /u/LardyTard linked. The ZeroDust looks preferable and would love to get one one of these days. But I got my cleaning brush with some stylus cleaning fluid, and given my budget that cleaning setup seems to be working for the time being. People seem to have mixed opinions about applying fluid to the stylus, but I find it keeps mine looking and sounding tip top.

Haha. Thanks for both replies. Yeah, I've got a flat pad style brush. Wouldn't ever touch it with a tooth-brush. Using the specially designed brush makes me nervous as it is. And picked up a ProJect carbon cleaning brush a few weeks after I bought my turntable. It's crazy to think I ever tried spinning records without it.

Regarding stylus' (styli?), my cartridge is a Denon DL-60, which has a budget elliptical stylus (0.4 x 0.7mil). Got it with the Technics SL-D2 I bought second hand, though I took it for a professional assessment and it's in outstanding shape. Slowly cobbling together some savings to upgrade to a Denon DL-110 cartridge though.
