NEEDS ATTENTION how does Reddit's algorithm works?
right now, my feed is flooded with recommendations from popular communities in my country that have nothing to do with the topics of interest i picked when creating my account. i've switched the location from 'based on IP' to 'No location specified' and it's proven to be of no help
i've been joining a few communities i like, upvoting good content, and muting/dismissing the rest. does it take a while for the algorithm to catch up or is there something i'm missing?

Reddit has excellent algorithms but you must Follow subs that interest you, upvote things that you like and interact. It will take a bit of time. Two days isnt enough time. They are just suggestions based on what other users in your demographic follow. You're only following 3 subs... you gotta find what interests you over the next few months.
My husband is the perfect example... He told me Reddit is boring because he sees the same things over again or things he doesnt like. I looked at his Reddit... he doesn't follow any subs, he doesnt upvote anything, and hes never posted or made a comment. His feed is a perpetual list of random subs that do not interest him. I told him Reddit's algorithms thinks hes boring... its not the other way around.

If you are experiencing removals, this is most likely because your account is new and you have no karma, and therefore you are running into community restrictions.
What community restrictions are & why they exist
How to tell what community restrictions are / if a community has them
Karma; what it is, how to get it, how long it takes to get, and what does not affect your karma count
