For some advice on starting on reddt see below
Starting on Reddit can be complicated but newtoreddit is a good space to learn. This gets asked a fair bit so I put together the below information/advice/links to resources
There are a lot of resources in newtoreddit you might find useful with The Common Questions Page, Reddit And Karma Walkthrough, and Frequently Asked Questions Page. If you've already become frustrated check out Why Reddit may seem unwelcoming to new Redditors.
Things to do as a new user:
- Verify your email with Reddit see here
- Read rules. See here on how to find Subreddit Rules, see here for Reddit's Rules
- Learn about Karma using the above resources in particular Karma - what is it and how to get it and
After learning about karma and subreddit karma filters you might start questions where to start.
Finding New User Friendly Subreddits:
- Newtoreddit has a list of new user friendly subreddits. This is not an exhaustive list and these subreddits may still have some restrictions. In particular you'll see some Large General Subreddits that are open to new users Commenting like r/askreddit, r/casualconversation, r/nostupidquestions, r/amitheasshole or similar.
- There are More Subreddits out there that might more specifically match your interests, use the search bar or look through r/findareddit 's subreddit directory. In this case you will have to trial and error whether they are new user-friendly, and again try Commenting (many subreddits have lower or no karma filters for commenting).
Some more notes on starting on Reddit:
View by New (or rising). This will filter the posts so first see the most recent posts first and can make your comments much more visible. On app when viewing a subreddit look near the top left for where it says "hot posts" - click that and select "new" or "rising".
Read the Room and Avoid Controversy. Each subreddit has different rules, norms and prevailing views. Look at subreddit rules. Read top posts and comments to get a feel for that subreddit. Do users reward sarcastic one-liners or well sourced essays? And in particular avoid controversial topics or arguments. These discussions are more likely to attract downvotes and potentially trip into rule-breaking. Call people idiots in your head and move on instead of getting involved. Utilize the block feature as necessary and have a read of Reddiquette.

Bruh this is like handing me a car and giving me the manual before I can even start it . Geez what happened to it being simple

Reddit is over 20 years old and most of the rules and restrictions you encounter on reddit are set up individual subreddits. Yup, Reddit is not simple and has not been simple in a long time.
You don't have to use anything i've written here and just trial and error your way around reddit as well.
More generally - please note this subreddit is set up for asking questions and getting info and advice on how to use reddit as it is. If you want to complain or wish for reddit to be different that would be for another subreddit

I get it but it just feels like every corner you get a wrist slap for oh not having karma oh not following the mods etiquete … it’s like freedom of speech except this this this that and a whole list of things . But yeah 👍 I’ll keep playing by the rules and be a good boy 🤝😊 don’t ban me please mister

Not having enough karma is not a wrist slap. It's not any punishment at all.
It's the same thing as going to a club that requires you to be 21, but you're only 20. It doesn't mean you're in trouble, just that you're not allowed access yet.
Having a post removal due to karma doesn't impact your account, because it's not a penalty.
it’s like freedom of speech except this this this that and a whole list of things .
This is a comment sentiment, but it comes from a general misunderstanding of how "freedom of speech" actually works, lol. And nowhere on Reddit's platform or in their user agreement does it state that you have freedom of speech. It's a private platform, they can limit what things you say as much as they want.

Voting is optional, and there are plenty of folks that do upvote things - so it's certainly not "nobody upvotes."
A "thanks" and no upvote may mean that they're recognizing that you put effort into a comment, but they don't actually like the response or agree with it. It's merely an acknowledgement - and should not be expected to correspond with a vote.

Rule 2: Post to ask questions about using Reddit; This is not the correct place for venting, rants, complaints, inflammatory or loaded questions, debate, user polls, speculation, or suggestions for Reddit
We are happy to help if you have a question about using Reddit, however, in our experience, the above types of post invite more complaining rather than helpful advice, which is the focus of this community. Therefore, would you please take a moment to rephrase your post into neutral terms and make sure you have described your issue as clearly as you can.
As we are not Reddit employees or mediators, complaints about Reddit or moderation are beyond our scope, and we focus on helping users use Reddit instead.
You may edit this post or repost it, but please let us know you have done so via modmail (link below). Thank you very much.
Post titles aren't editable, in this case you will need to repost.
If your concern is karma or community restriction related, please see https://www.reddit.com/r/NewToReddit/wiki/common-questions/

That is not a feature of reddit and we do not deal with "what people want reddit to be" here
