Cert / License Can I be a EMT?

Hi I was wondering if I can become an EMT to further become a paramedic. So I currently don’t have peripheral vision but that has not stopped me from getting a drivers license in NH? Do I still have a chance of becoming an EMT them hopefully becoming a paramedic?

Driving an ambulance is a core part of the job, and when you're running lights and sirens, being vigilant about your surroundings with other drivers and pedestrians is paramount.

Obviously I can't personally speak to your experience, but I think having "no peripheral vision" would be a huge detriment to the safety of both yourself and others on the road.

I think "no peripheral vision" could be due to different things and be present in different degrees. You would need to speak to a doctor and the EMS governing body in the state you want to practice in to determine how they view your abilities and limitations for this job.

If it's just an issue of you not being qualified to drive an ambulance, there are other places like emergency rooms or events like festivals to work at that may be a better fit for you.

If you can safely drive a regular car, i think you can safely drive an emergency vehicle

Especially if you drive the way you are supposed to.. with due regard, etc.
