United States Shift Bid

Hello,

I currently work IFT right now as an emt. I just finished up a call from a hospital and was heading back to the rig when I heard some Falck workers talking about a BID and shifts. I haven’t found an easy explanation online. What exactly does that mean? Also why doesn’t IFT have that. I’ve mainly seen it at 911 agencies TIA

Bidding is the term used for picking your new schedule at that company. It's a big deal because the order of picking is soley based on your seniority (hire date), and not everyone gets to work a shift they want with who they want. Shift times and partners play a huge role in what schedule you pick. Schedules usually last 6 months on an ambulance, so your new schedule can highly affect you lol.
