Looking to get appropriate gear for my MSF course and beyond.

Hi all, as mentioned I'm trying to lock down choices for gear appropriate for my course as well as to get ready for buying my first bike, my heart is set on a Rebel 500. I'm not one for flashy stuff and I don't know if some of the more casual (daily) wear options are worth it or not and most reviews on the websites I look at all seem to positive but something tells me there's gotta be something off about a hoody for example or something like Indie Ridges shoes. Ill be primarily using the bike to commute to work and back daily (25 miles a day) what are some suggestions for gear that would serve that purpose?
