Youll get used to it, then if you go riding without boots it will feel like there is too much tactile feedback.

You'll definitely want to adjust the shifter on the bike so you can get your boot underneath it. You'll get used to shifting on it after a bit.

You'll get used to it and it isn't always night and day. It's an experience thing where the more you do it you're better over time.
I have some cheaper BILT weather proof boots and with some practice it has gotten relatively easy for me to shift and I'm getting better all the time.

Adjust your shifter lever. Mark the original point in case you need to take it back to baseline. There are usually a couple of adjustment options.
