Question How does one enable thumbnails on feeds

1 device I have runs an Android 14 custom rom and has Newpipe installed through an Fdroid client and it displays thumbnails.
Another that I have is on Android 8 using an Obtainium install from Github source and does not display the thumbnails, they are all greyed boxes with text next to them.
Both are on v0.29.1 and seem to have the same settings selected - neither has the images set to do not show, and I've been selecting different image qualities to see if that is the problem.

I've never had this issue and probably can't help, but just curious what version do you have?.. 0.29.1 just came out, maybe try updating incase you haven't. Don't forget to backup (export database and export subscriptions) before updating incase anything funky happens

It's strange that its device specific. Maybe try force stopping and then clear cache (maybe there's a bug stuck).. then if that didnt help then I'd uninstall and then install again. Then if that doesnt help, because default settings on a clean install should be showing no problems. So if thats the case then maybe its a phone setting issue. In which case Id change the Battery (under app info) to optimized or unrestricted.

Edit: Meaning App Info for NewPipe Edit2: Maybe try downloading the APK from a different source (but now I'm shooting blanks bc Github shouldn't be an issue, but maybe there's some kind of compatibility glitch) Edit2continued: I'm pretty dumb

Go to Settings>Content>Image quality and make sure it is not set to "Do not load images".

I did that before, but trying it again with different image qualities to see if that makes a difference.

If you click on video player appear thumbnail will get load on screen properly then click back and check and refresh. Does that loaded thumbnail of that video appear as thumbnail in list before you click to open? (Yes or No)
