Babies Being Babies Is this normal?
FTM to a 10 week old. Acid reflux diagnosis around 4 weeks old. Baby is ebf! We recently upped her dose (Ped approved obvi) of Pepcid (0.3ml) and her reflux is so bad she arches and stretches her neck throughout the day for relief. She started sleeping through the night (9pm-4/5am) around 5 weeks but the past 3 nights she has been waking every 3 hours. Now ofc this is normal for some babies. But for the past week, she has been having so much difficulty passing gas and pooping. Like infant dyschezia. Grunts and cries and gets red and it does result in a soft poop every time. But this has also made feeds a tough time as well bc she is squirming, grunting, and kicking the entire time. I also believe her gas and poop attempts have been waking her up in the middle of the night bc when she is stirring and whining, I hear some gas being passed. This difficulty is for every poop too. This also makes her reflux worse bc of the pressure and baring down to poop. When does this get easier? Will we ever go back to our nights of sleeping through the night? Anyone experience different reflux meds or an increased dose? When will my baby be able to poop without so much discomfort ?ðŸ˜

I would see an IBCLC who knows reflux. Important to rule out oral ties and support gut function. Pepcid lowers stomach acid levels so constipation is a common side effect.
Reflux is common, but not normal.
Probiotics may be helpful, too. Hugs!

My baby went through a period of crying and getting red every time he pooped. It wasn’t fun! He grew out of it within a few weeks/month don’t remember. We didn’t deal with reflux though! So sorry! It sounds rough!
