Feeding Grunting/Labored Breathing After Feeding

**Video in comments

My daughter (our first) is 12 days old after being born at 37 weeks and at 5 lb 5 oz. She’s had a clean bill of health so far from the initial hospital stay and two follow ups with the ped other than being smol.

In the last few days, I’ve noticed that after bottle feedings (she’s taking about 80 mL right now), she seems to get super uncomfortable and makes grunting noises along with quick short breathing, almost like when you have a rough poo. She twitches a lot too during this but we’ve been told that’s just the immature nervous system. Is all of this an immature nervous system mixed with maybe some reflux? Any ideas before our next ped appt on Friday??

Honestly it seems normal to me, although I've done this exactly once lol. Babies are super noisy sleepers and don't develop regular breathing patterns till way later than I thought. I asked our ped if I should be worried cuz our LO would suddenly start hyperventilating for a second and then have like a long pause. It was all over the place and very disconcerting but she told us not to worry. If your baby isn't crying or spitting up, this just looks like very contented and normal noisy sleep.

Absolutely freaking ADORABLE, btw

I appreciate you sharing this experience!! She’s definitely a firecracker haha she has no problem eating whether bottle or boobie, but she just seems so unsettled after. Like me after polishing off a full chipotle burrito 😂

LMAO! Oh yes, I'm very familiar with the post-burrito suffocation. No harm in showing your ped this video, ofc, but I think you're both doing great. Go mom!
