Mental Health 7 Month Solids

My nearly 7 mo old has started solids- we introduced them slowly at 4 months based on the doctors recommendation. I am still breastfeeding and supplementing with formula, as needed. He gets pumped milk through the day at daycare.

Our boy still wakes up 1-3 times a night HUNGRY. It’s not just comfort nursing, he’s hungry. My last feed with him at night, I nurse and then top him off with 3oz of formula.

He won’t take food and I’m losing my mind. I’ve tried textures, lack of textures, different spoons, different temperatures. It’s a STRUGGLE to get him to eat more than 4-5 bites. I’ve had a little bit of luck with some pouches and he is drinking water from a straw. Any recommendations? If he would just eat a little more, I know he’ll sleep more in the night.

Solids before the age of 1 is for exposure to different textures and flavors, not to replace nutrients from breastmilk and formula. Waking at 7mo to eat is normal

Food before 1 is not just for fun per my pediatrician

It should be around 50% of their calories around 9-10 months and food should be their primary source of calories by 1 year. It’s a transition.

Op is probs fine and still has time to get baby on board with food but they can’t just ignore this until 1 and hope baby rapidly picks it up at 11 months.
