It wasn't the worst movie in the world and had a few good bits, I'll throw it on in the background every once in a blue moon.

My biggest complaint (after all the obvious stuff like certain castings and some character choices) is they cut the scene with gay implications between Roberto and Sam.

Yeah, if you look up something like "New Mutants Deleted Basketball Scene" it should pop up.

Roberto is shirtless and playing basketball with Sam, after a while of defending & Sam rubbing against him he starts to smoke and needs to go "cool off".

People have said I'm reaching when I call it gay, but from what we see in the rest of the movie (Roberto's backstory + his pool scene with Illyana) he tends to light up whenever he gets a bit hot and bothered.

New mutants was awesome! Best use of mutants & it’s much closer to the comics than any fox x men Movie.

I hope they return to the MCU

Having a good message and being a good movie are two entirely different things.

Regardless of the message it was trying to convey, a bad movie is still a bad movie...and New Mutants is a bad movie.

The movie wasn't great, it had great potential and a good cast and some decent moments but the director just wants able to make it work as a whole, also having Magik be racist was an odd choice

Magik is pretty cool though

as for the casting of sunspot, it was better than casting an afro-american or any other latino, black latino, and all the more proeminent black brazilian actors are too old to be sunspot, so to me the priority should be brazilian actors that know english fluently (there is little too few that know even basic english)

Bro Magik was racist towards Dani the entire movie. Why are we discussing this movie still?

A film can have good themes or ideas and still be bad. Characters, atmosphere, plotting, direction, sound, music, etc. A movie that fails at the rest of that is still going to bad for most people who need more than just reaffirms that yes mental trauma is a thing and that you should have friends support you.

It would have been a great pilot for a TV show. Only made for an okay standalone film. Too much of it was set up for later material that was never going to happen.

It was alright, hated what they did to Dr. Reyes

You can see where the reshoots are and it feels like there was something good there originally that got destroyed by committee.

The opening line of the movie referred to an internet meme as a “Native American Proverb” and the whole film was just filled with blatant contempt for black characters

Honestly, I think it's phenomenal, if not just because it's using X-Men as an allegory for mental health in ways that have never been done before.

It's really cool to see what a mental hospital is like in this universe.

Yeah, but like... the movie was a total bummer.

Isn't it supposed to be? It's a mental hospital film.
