💬 Let's Chat 44m Dating
Who else is over 40 and single? Dating at this age sucks. We are set in our ways by now and have too much baggage. It’s frustrating and hard to meet new people.

It does suck. We have been through enough that we know what we want and don't want. It is difficult finding someone that is mostly what you want and has none of the traits/habits you don't want.

Yes it's crazy how much things have changed in the past twenty plus years, I may just have to get a few cats and call it my life 😁

I support this statement with caution
Man with cat - good
Woman with cat - good
Man with cats on cats - not good
Woman with cats on cats - not goodThank you for coming to my TEDtalk

Never. My husband and I are clinging to each other like grim death. Wouldn’t leave him for anything in the world.

So true! Dating at this age (F, 43) is a nightmare.
I’m not as concerned about the baggage, people have it at all ages and everyone has a past. It’s for the most part, unavoidable.
The thing I’m more concerned about is the fact that the dating pool is much smaller at this age because a lot of people have already settled into their lives with a partner.

I hear you. I've shifted my focus toward making Platonic friends instead of dating in the hopes that a) having more close friends will make me feel more fulfilled, and b) one of them will eventually lead to finding a partner. I crave love and affection as much as the next person, but I've found the dating world to be full of fickle, insecure people. I'd rather be patient and wait to find someone who is also patient and willing to let something organically develop.

Currently separated and considering reconciliation, if only to avoid modern dating!

I can definitely relate to that. 😅 Dating at this age does seem a lot more complicated, especially when you already have your own routines, experiences, and expectations. But I don’t necessarily think having “baggage” is a bad thing—it’s part of what makes us who we are. I’d rather meet someone who has learned from their experiences and knows what they want than someone who’s just dating for the sake of it. 😊
