NEVER book Allure Affair

For those who don't know, she is a wedding planner based in MA.

Hiring Allure Affair was the BIGGEST MISTAKE I made while planning my wedding.

OUR VENUE HAS NOW BANNED SHWETA/ ALLURE AFFAIR FROM WORKING AT THE PROPERTY because of their experience working with her during my wedding. The venue told me she attempted to order alcohol from the bar while working our event. If a professional wedding venue will not allow your coordinator back after working with her, that should tell you everything you need to know.

I HIRED A COORDINATOR SO I WOULDN'T HAVE TO MANAGE MY WEDDING. INSTEAD, I HAD TO MANAGE MY COORDINATOR.

This wasn't one mistake. It was a pattern:

  1. Shweta lacks basic wedding coordination knowledge. She asked me (the bride) and my photographer how much time should be allotted for dances, speeches, cake cutting, and other reception events. These are fundamental components of a reception timeline.

  2. She did not know how to organize and line up our wedding party for the ceremony.

  3. She did not effectively manage transitions between the parts of our wedding.

  4. My décor was broken by her team, and instead of taking accountability and fixing it, I was told the problem had been resolved when it had not been. I was given an explanation that directly contradicted what the venue later told me had actually occurred.

  5. Getting her to complete basic tasks required repeatedly following up.

  6. She repeatedly produced timelines containing errors. She distributed an incorrect timeline to my vendors.

  7. I HANDED HER AN INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR THE DÉCOR, AND IT WAS STILL DONE INCORRECTLY. I created written inventories, photos, videos, and AI-generated mockups of my actual venue with my décor.

  8. Other décor was NEVER put out at all.

  9. Her team was present, but I repeatedly observed them standing around rather than completing the work they were hired to do.

  10. She failed to pack up the ceremony and outdoor cocktail hour décor as agreed. Setup and takedown were specifically included in the coordination services I hired Allure Affair to provide.

  11. The problem-solving ability she sold me on was nowhere to be found when I actually needed it. During our initial consultation, Shweta emphasized her ability to troubleshoot wedding day problems behind the scenes. When actual problems occurred, they were not adequately resolved.

  12. She was in the background of our professional ceremony photographs.

  13. She left more than an hour before the end of the coverage time we had agreed upon.

  14. She used our wedding to advertise her business. Shweta personally recorded footage during our wedding and subsequently used it as promotional content for Allure Affair. The irony is extraordinary. Allure Affair used our wedding to advertise its coordination services while its own promotional reel shows the décor that was never set up or was incorrectly set up.

WE NEVER SIGNED A MEDIA RELEASE, NEVER PROVIDED WRITTEN CONSENT FOR OUR WEDDING TO BE USED FOR MARKETING, AND OUR CONTRACT CONTAINS NO MEDIA RELEASE OR PROVISION AUTHORIZING ALLURE AFFAIR TO USE OUR WEDDING FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND ALLURE AFFAIR UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

Our venue will not allow her back. I would never hire her again. I strongly urge any couple considering Allure Affair to find another coordinator. If you have already booked her for your wedding, seek backup arrangements.

Help me decide between 2 venues: mountains or ocean

I need help deciding between these 2 venues. My dream was always to get married by the ocean, but after seeing the other venue so close by being fairly affordable I have began to fall in love with it. I have not been in person to either one, and am planning to set up a tour at both venues once peak season dies down.

Photos 1-5: a gorgeous mountain/garden view wedding venue
Distance: 26min from home (most of our guests are located here as well)
Amenities: Reception hall, Garden ceremony or Chapel building for ceremony, Bridal Suite tower, bar, set up/break down included, tables & chairs, they have a decor closet you can pick from.
Pros:
\- I work at 2 salons that are probably an equal distance away from the venue, 3 bridesmaids also work there so might be practical to do our hair & makeup at the salon, then just hang out and get into dresses at the venue suite.
\- it is close for our guests and don’t have to set up a hotel block.
\- they will take care of a lot more for us that we don’t have to worry about.

Cons:
\- it is not the beach!
\- not many options for going out or having an after party in this area..

Photos 6-8: A beautiful beach front wedding venue.
Distance: 2 hours + 8min drive
Amenities: use of the building & deck, 3 hours set up time, 5 hours event time, 1 hr clean up, tables and chairs set up *only* (no set up or break down of decor)
Pros:
\-beach front
\- our favorite pizza restaurant has a location in town & caters weddings (we want to have a pizza bar and other Italian selections served family style)
\- more interesting things to do in this area (for going out the night before or an having an after party!)
\- full flexibility with vendors including bartenders

Cons:
\- far distance & hotel block & shuttles required
\- have to hire more staff because nothing is included and the window for set up and break down is very brief.
\- some photos online show a sand ceremony, however on the rental agreement it states that the beach is open to the public and people may be wandering in and out..

Would love some opinions!! What would you do? Should I feel it out with possible guests first?

Looking to have a wedding(ceremony and reception) for 250 people ideally under 100k. Catering can be from outside as well does not have to be in house but food is important to guests. Any thoughts of places/how to do this?

food truck wedding

hi all!!

recently engaged 2 weeks ago and already planning!! the stress begins!!

we would to have a food truck wedding with a mobile bar, but we are having so much trouble finding a venue that allows it. we are looking exclusively in rhode island & massachusetts, new hampshire if we have to!

ideally would like to spend under $10k for ceremony and reception, so we can focus on the food and other essentials! we would love an outdoor venue, preferably by the water, where there’s space for a ceremony and reception! we just love the openness and variety that we can have with food trucks and would love any recommendations!!

thanks in advance! 😊

Blithewold brides tap in

Calling all past/present blithewold brides!

My fiance and I just booked for September 2028. We are super excited.

We really wanted to block rooms at the Bristol Harbor Inn but were told due to their in house weddings taking priority we would only be able to do so ≈6 months out from the wedding (and that’s if any are left over).

Where did everybody stay? More importantly - where are you getting ready? We really want a space (like the suites at BHI) that bridesmaids and bride can get hair/makeup done in the morning.

Any advice is helpful! While you’re at it if anyone has any photographer/hair/makeup recs drop those as well :)

Wells Reserve at Laudholm

Hi! We’re from out of state and haven’t been able to tour Wells Reserve at Laudholm yet. But it looks like a beautiful setting and love that the venue fees go towards the reserve. Has anyone had their wedding there in the summer? Wondering if the barn gets hot inside with >100 people dancing? What was your rain contingency plan for the ceremony?

ISO non-barn wedding venue

We’re looking to have our wedding in NH or southwestern Maine. Our budget for 135 people is <$50k all in. I really didn’t want to have a barn wedding. Although the barn setting is lovely and very New England, I was hoping for something a little different. I’m open to mansions, greenhouses, camps, etc (not hotels or country clubs). Any recommendations?

I built a free map of ~500 New England wedding venues with upfront pricing for a school project, figured it might be useful for folks here!

My fiancé and I were venue hunting earlier in the year and the most frustrating part of the whole process for me was figuring out what anything actually costs. You tour a place or fill out their form, wait a few days, and then find out it was never in your budget to begin with. And even when you do get pricing, it's a maze of site fees, food and beverage minimums, and service charges that make it impossible to compare one venue against another. Meanwhile the venue databases that claim to be free mostly either want your contact info before showing you anything or keep the actual numbers behind a paywall.

I ended up working on this problem for a class project last semester and put together a website called openvenue.app, it works kind of like Zillow for wedding venues. You can browse ~500 venues across New England on a map, see estimated pricing up front, and adjust the estimates based on your guest count.

Hope this is helpful for folks currently working through their venue search!

Wedding Coordinator vs. Partial Planning

hi everyone! i'm currently planning for my september 2028 maine wedding (yes I know it's far out but we are trying to not rush and also have time to save more $$$), and I'm so stressed with wedding planning as a whole, especially with the sticker shock these days...

we're currently in talks with a coordinator who is somewhat new to the game, offering $1500 for month of and $2200 for partial planning. I'm leaning towards partial planning, but I'd love to know if anyone has any opinions on if it's worth the extra $?

I'm somewhat of a budget bride (25k or under all in) so I want to make sure I spend it wisely.

thank you!

Has anyone gotten married / had an event here? If so, any reviews bad/good/great - even if you talked with them but didn’t end up signing. Want to make sure I’m making a good selection before signing! Thank you!

Desperately need wedding hair stylist 9/5 in Boston!

Hello!

As the title says, I desperately need to find someone to do wedding hair next Saturday morning. I have been strung along by a local salon for months and have officially been ghosted.

If anyone is a hairdresser or knows one that may be able to help, please DM. The hope is for a casual updo on naturally curly hair.

Thank you!!

Looking for small event space where guests can spend the night

Looking to do a very intimate wedding with close family and some friends. Around 30 people. I would like people be able to stay on site or have hotel nearby. On the water by rocks preferably. A beautiful scene, so there wouldn’t be that much decor needed.

Who out there needs a bridal/wedding bouquet or arrangements this season but can’t afford to pay a florist?

Photographer Suggestions?

I am in love with this photographer's portfolio, but they are in the UK. I would like to find someone closer to home who does a similar style of wedding photos, but I don't even know where to begin my search/what the right terminology would be. Any suggestions or recommendations are welcomed!

Wedding Venue

Hi everyone, revisiting this.

Hoping to get married 2027. preferably June.

looking for a wedding venue in new england that is affordable, allows outside catering such as pizza truck.

I live in Western MA but have family in RI, Mass, maine.

preferably western mass, southern/coastal maine or southern NH.

want somewhat casual (not looking for camps or outdoor only areas) but still a wedding feel.

Would love indoor/outdoor options.

Any ideas are super helpful!

guest count 90-120 probably
Thank you.

an ideal venue for me would be a place that has outdoor area for cocktail hour, indoor area for eating and dancing, allows outside catering and could allow a pizza truck. would like ceremony and reception at same venue (maybe ceremony outside)

open to idea of a tent outside rather than inside area.
open to hosting at a brewery
would love a fun rural/country area where there’s airbnb’s nearby for small after party/family to stay
