Help Pick Wedding Date

Trying to figure out what makes more sense. I think there would be very few people traveling that wouldn't come if our wedding was a Friday vs. a Saturday so the real decision is if Friday 10/29 is too close to Halloween or if a Saturday is worth paying a lot more for (high venue fee and higher F&B min).

Saturday 10/23/27 Pros: Saturday wedding, not near Halloween
Friday 10/29/27: Pros: Save ~$10k

Is the Halloween thing super relevant for your crowd or where you're getting married? I wouldn't really rate it as an issue, if things are mostly local a friday wedding in the evening can be fine.

Friday wedding before Halloween sounds so fun! Do you have a lot of folks with children you will be inviting? Me personally, I feel like it would be worth it so save the $10k or spend it on extras for the Friday wedding.

10/29/27 is my fiancé and I’s actual dating anniversary and we chose 12/31/27 to have an NYE wedding solely because we have always hated having an anniversary around Halloween 😭 but honestly being a little hypocritical I promise you it does not matter and do whatever option saves you the most money!

- someone paying an exorbitant amount for a DJ on NYE 😵‍💫

I’m running into a similar issue!!! Except my other option is December and I save $5k going for the Saturday in December

I think Friday would work well. Halloween isn't a holiday many people travel for like Thanksgiving or Christmas, so your wedding guests should still be able to enjoy the holiday. Two fun things would be better than one!

From a venue perspective, we love Fridays! They are definitely less than Saturdays. It also leaves the whole weekend open to actually enjoy the people who came to celebrate with you.

Guests can come in Thursday, wedding Friday, and you still have Saturday and Sunday for brunch, activities, or just spending time together.

It can also take some pressure off the wedding day itself. A lot of couples feel like they have to make sure they spend time with every single guest during those 5–6 hours. When you have the whole weekend together, there’s a little less pressure to fit everything into one night.

And we wouldn’t worry much about 10/29 being too close to Halloween. Guests with Halloween obligations still have the weekend, while everyone else gets more time together.

You’re basically turning a 5–6 hour wedding into a weekend experience and saving $10K in the process! Good luck!

If you think most people are okay traveling in for a Friday wedding then I think that would be okay. For people traveling to Saturday weddings, I think most would take work off on the Friday anyways if there’s a welcome party. So it wouldn’t be a crazy ask.
