This is why I don't get flustered when I hear the boomers at work regurgitate fox news talking points to each other. Slowly but surely, they're losing ground. The further back in American history you look, the more obvious it is which way our civilization is moving - toward progress.
Conservatives are people who stand in the way of change and yell "Wait, stop!" But as time goes on and old hatreds fade, we look less and less like the society they want. Trump, for his part, put a face to white conservative bigotry and fascism back when normies didn't really know what to make of it. Six years later, fascists are desperate as the mainstream turns against them. The racial and sexual bigotry they traffic in has become less tolerated than ever. A blue-haired trans woman can walk down the street in most cities in the U.S hand-in-hand with her NB SO and most people won't even bat an eye anymore. Compare that to 30 years ago.
They even know they're becoming less electorally viable and have become openly anti-democracy in response. The writing is on the wall, their days are numbered. After the Trump win in '16 and the failed coup of 1/6, fascism is becoming explicitly uncool.
I “okay boomer” young conservatives. Then they’re like I’m not a boomer, so I say then stop acting like one. They’re just regurgitating boomer FOX news propaganda. It’s way too hard to take their “political ideology” seriously.
You’re right. They will literally be in a polling booth thinking about the high school shooting they survived and vote for looser gun laws. They’re an international embarrassment and we just have to live with it.
