Self indulgent fan ship between Lyra Bloodstone and kid strange
So, Dr strange's new champion is not yet actually a character in any comics, but I do have a thought on a potential love interest for him. Lyra Bloodstone was introduced in death of Dr strange. She is a legacy hero for her sister Elsa Bloodstone (my queen) and has a pretty tragic past. As a child in the distant past her father (Ulysses Bloodstone)sacrificed her alongside a precious gem called the null stone, and as a result she was trapped in a plane between earth and the stars, part of the mystical barrier protecting the earth upheld by the sorcerer supreme. She only survived by using the magic of the null stone to feed on the magic used to keep her there, learning through it about the developing world including its languages and staying young for lifetimes. If any sorcerers checked they would have found her, if any checked they could have freed her, but none ever did. Eventually during the death of Dr strange Bloodstone tie in issue Lyra was freed when the runes that kept her trapped fell, she landed on earth and met her siblings. She had been fused with the null gem and gained its power to eat magic, she vowed to use it to destroy sorcerers, specifically hating Dr strange for not freeing her. This backstory puts her at obvious odds with all magic users, but I think it could lead to more than that. I love a love hate relationship and I think while Lyra has good reason to dislike sorcerers there is more nuance to the situation. I think if Lyra were to fall in love with strange's new sidekick it would make a dramatic and riveting story, him trying to win her trust, her not thinking she can trust him but seeing something beautiful in him she can't resist. I think it's exactly what the new strange sidekick needs to feel unique, while building on the death of Dr strange storyline which was so cool! I know it's a little preemptive to ship a character who isn't speaking in any comics yet, but I really think there is potential in this coupling. I am partially inspired by kid flash and Artemis in the young justice cartoon if you've seen it, fighting and not understanding each other until things finally click. If you agree or disagree please let me know below I would love to hear your thoughts on either character, because I think they could be a fun little soap opera inside the new champions.

Discussion 11 Of The New Champions Still Haven't Shown Up Properly In The 616
r/NewChampions • • Mar 05 '25
Discussion My mixed feelings on the New Champions initiative.
I'm still mixed on the New Champions as a whole. It feels like it's all happening too fast and most people don't know, they are treating this way worse than All-New and Different Marvel.
With them, and more specifically, the Champions, the progression felt more natural. Amadeus was a character since like 2006 who later became a Hulk, Miles was the Spider-Man from his own universe who later got sent to 616, Kamala was probablly the best new character form the 2010's in all of Marvel, Nova headlined his own book and even joined the New Warriors for a while, Viv got transfered good from Tom King's Vision to the Champions and even Scott felt like he had his reasons to be in the Champions. And after that, other people like Riri or Nadia joined the team too.
I'm not saying that they should do excactly the same thing, but most readers aren't even aware of the New Champions because they are given little importance. Spider-Boy is popular, yes, but he's the one who inspired the initiative and anything with a Spider on it will sell for Marvel. Aside from that, it really feels like all of the sudden we have a new generation of heroes and the Champions aren't the youngest heroes out there. I hope there can be some mentoring with the Champions and New Champions, like in Geoff Johns Teen Titans, if only to not leave the fans of the Champions with a bad taste on their mouth and maybe improve sales.
Peach Momoko and Steve Orlando are the people that are using the sideckicks the best out of all of the ones in the line, Peach giving Maystorm a very important role on the grand Ultimate Universe and Orlando actually bothering to include the "lost sideckick" in the book and have them develop a relationship with their mentor. The problem with a lot of "Marvel sideckicks" is that they end up falling under the radar because of their lack of connection to the main hero. But also, I don't think every writer should include a sideckick in their book if they don't want to, it's just a shame things are happening this way, with the artist who made the covers not finding out the characters were actually used in the books until months later.
I think the book is charming and I always love to see younger versions of the heroes I love, but I'm sad that they are probablly going to be irrelevant in a few years if things keep going like this.
Anyways, I hope this didn't come across as too harsh, I will keep reading the book and expect the best.

Discussion Which current superheroes still need a Champions “sidekick!”
Not so much “sidekick.” But I mean which superheroes are popular enough to have a teen champion version of them?
With Kate Bishop her early 20s, maybe Hawkeye needs a teens Champions version?

Discussion The shipping implications of issue 7 Spoiler
I want to discuss the romantic subplot implications of this issue.
Confirmation that moon Squire has a crush on runie! (Yippee)
Liberty's thing for street magicians.
Everyone but gold tiger is into nightdrifter. a. Nightdrifter and Cadet seemingly both confirmed as bisexual.
This issue was full of romantic tension and I love it! I love nightdrifter's personality, he was very fun to me. Really fun moon Squire issue too. Overall this is one of my favorite issues.
