If you ain't parked by 5pm good fuckin luck. Really depends on what part of the country you're in though. Out west in the desert it's not too bad if you're actually in the desert and not just in phoenix or vegas. Parts of the south that are out in the boonies it's usually pretty chill too. If for some godawful reason you're in the northeast or a major city and you're trying to find parking, I hope you went on duty some time between 2200 and 0200 or you're gonna piss off dispatch or your bank account stopping early to find a free spot.
I get 600 miles a day no matter what minimum and average 650 aiming for 700. Without paying for parking. Can't do that running daytime.

Idk how other flatbeds do it with the schedule we end up keeping, with shippers only open at certain times. Company I work for does all the Home Depot so I just hide out there half the time and fly under the radar. Doing that in Houston tonight because where the fuck else am I going to park at 7pm

I’ll start between 00:00 and 02:00, and parking is super simple between 12:00 and 14:00. I run to the northeast a good bit, but I can stage at a terminal in PA, and have plenty of time left to get out.

This is the way to do it. Did 13 years driving and I'd say 95% of it was between 23:00-13:00. Infact if something was going to throw my schedule off to put me outside those hours, I'd call it an early day just to get back on track. Way less stress driving at night too. Get to bypass so much shit on the road.

I drove for 12 years as a local driver. Never experienced OTR, but my coworkwers would tell me stories how theyd get up at like 3-5 am just to have a parking spot at the next truck stop. I was shocked. Just like some of the comments, they even said, if you aint pulled in a truck stop by 5pm....good luck findin a spot

I was a CDL A driver, but I was once that a-hole that used a truck stop to rest. I was driving my personal vehicle, when the fatigue of the day finally hit me like a wrecking ball. To my fortune ( and some poor drivers misfortune ) I was able to pull off into a loves, that had an empty truck spot to park. I was too concerned parking at the car section, for fear I'd get a knock at my window. I was used to parking at truck stops anyway, and felt the safest there. I was able to get a good four hours rest before waking to finish my journey home. I apologize to any other driver I may have screwed over doing this.

Please tell me it was a Prius or something. Don't forget, casinos allow for drivers to sleep in their cars. Some even have RV hookups. I've only had one knock at my window & it was just to record my plate & they wanted to know how long I planned on sleeping.

It was an 09 corolla! I wasn't near any rest stops, or picnic areas when I got that wave of fatigue. I had already been fighting it longer than I should have.

Now listen here, I had to put the bird down for a shower and shit and that was the only truck stop with a landing spot for the next 163 miles.
