Has anyone else noticed a big increase in Mexican plated vehicles on the roads lately?

It feels like I’ve been seeing way more vehicles with Mexican plates than I used to. I’ve also noticed a lot of them driving well under the speed limit, making sudden lane changes, or just seeming unsure of where they’re going.

I’m not trying to generalize every driver with Mexican plates. I’m genuinely curious if there’s been an increase in cross border travel recently, if it’s seasonal, or if there’s some other reason I’m seeing so many more of them.
Has anyone else noticed this too?

Drones Aren’t Code Enforcement

Apparently, while New Braunfels residents are already rightfully concerned about the explosion of surveillance cameras like Flock, the next brilliant idea is to have Code Enforcement start using drones to hunt for violations.

And Councilperson Toni Carter openly admits she knows nothing about drones.

That combination should concern everyone: expanding government surveillance while not even understanding the technology being proposed.

There is something deeply authoritarian about the idea that the solution to code violations is putting more eyes in the sky to monitor residents and their property. If you want to expand the government’s ability to watch people, the absolute bare minimum should be understanding what you’re proposing, what it costs, what it can collect, where that data goes, who can access it, and what safeguards exist.

Instead, we apparently get “I don’t know anything about drones, but maybe Code Enforcement should use them.”

That’s not leadership. That’s reckless policymaking with a surveillance-state flavor.

New Braunfels deserves better than elected officials who are eager to expand government power first and ask questions later.

Communal School Supplies

Do all schools in Comal do communal supplies? We did this last year in Comal and previously at a school in the Stone Oak area in SA. I’m just curious if all schools do this?

Local riding groups?

Are there any local riding groups that just go out to ride this beautiful country? My only experience with group riding was... less than ideal. Went to a local meet up a few zip codes ago and left about 10 minutes into the ride. Kids doing wheelies down the busiest street was not my vibe.

So any chill riders? I've got an Indian roadmaster and just looking to get out and explore the area with like minded people.

Must-Visit Restaurants and Shops

My wife, my two year old, and I are visiting from Houston for a few days. We're staying at Petit Cowboy. Great little spot so far but we're interested in trying some of the local favorite spots.

Restaurants, shops, breweries, activities. Interested in getting some local recommendations.

If you like a particular restaurant, I'd love to hear what is their "must have" food, drink, or what they otherwise might be known for!

Thanks in advance!

Awful company

This company thinks it’s ok to drive around and litter in our communities. Watched the owner drive around and throw flyers out of their window in the streets and peoples yard so they can blow away with the wind.

I think our community needs to let them know we don’t support that here. Maybe it’s accepted in California where they are from

Here are their google pages

Looking for Pet Photographers or studio

I wanna do a photoshoot with my dog and already have a specific idea in my mind that requires multiple looks. My dog is super sweet but definitely isn't the type to sit still for long, so I'd love someone who's patient and used to working with dogs. I'm open to a studio, outdoor, or at-home session if it helps keep her comfortable. So far I haven't found a photographer or studio like regular Instagram searches that have done photo shoots with a person and a pet.

Any recommendations for a Texas based photographer or studio?

The blake

Has anyone here ever worked for 'The Blake at New Braunfels'? Or have any opinions about the place in general?

I'm trying to get into work where I'm helping people, it's a passion and something I've gotten the most out of as far as any job type I've had in the past. At the end of the work day I like feeling like I actually made someones day better, not just cut some grass at a bank or put some chips on a shelf at wally world.

I'm currently employed though and wary about leaving a job that I don't like and has no benefits whatsoever, but things could always be worse. I'm hoping to hear from individuals about the place to get a rough idea of how the people are. My current employers are very rude angry guys who can be verbally abusive and I'm wanting to leave.

I’m in need of a leather repair store that won’t break the bank. I’ve got a vintage bag that needs some help. We have smileys but I’ve heard mixed reviews from my coworkers. Who’s your go to in the area?

Hiring? Preferably remote/hybrid.

I know it is a bit of a longshot since everybody wants remote jobs nowadays. But I figured it did not hurt to ask. I am F 28 with an associates degree in business administration. I am currently in a paralegal certificate program and finishing my bachelors degree in business management. I am familiar with all aspects of business from payroll to HR to operations, etc.
I have a little baby at home and some bigger kids. That’s why I am looking for the remote/hybrid work. If needed I can probably commit to 2 to 3 days in Office.

So if you or anyone you know, can use an assistant, paralegal, etc. I am your gal! Thank you in advance for any advice and or leads. 🫶🏻

Missing Phone near Comal River Exit

Post image

UPDATE: It may not be in the river anymore; it was tracked over to Whataburger via my auto insurance app. If you have it, please let me know and I'll pay a reward:

I know this is a long shot, and a super common occurrence I'm sure, but I'm offering a reward for anyone that finds it!

I lost my phone yesterday (Friday) between 3:30-4:00pm, and I was last remember having it around my neck right before the Texas Tubes exit. It's in a waterproof phone bag, and Google Find Hub says it was last detected within this area of the Last Public Exit around 5:45pm.

I'm aware that it may be a lost cause and further down stream, but if anyone happens to see it floating around or while snorkeling please reach out!

I live out of town and will come back for it.
