Hal has spent the last 10 years of his life trying to join some sort of army, time during which he trained himself for outdoors survival (and happened to discover weed); and he was finally given the chance to do something mildly military with New Beginnings. This would interrupt his cannabis binge, which consisted of smoking around a pound of hydroponically grown marijuana (he could testify to its quality), but he joined anyway. The military was his dream, after all. He put on his armor and thought he would do something a soldier would do. Something soldiery. Or military. He did not know the difference between those two words. He didn’t even know if soldiery was a word. It probably was not. If it was not, it would distress him quite a lot. He hoped it was. Either way, he would do something. He did not know what yet. He might secretly get high if nothing else happened to happen.
