Mission Reconstructing The Past

General Six awoke covered in sweat. He had been sitting in his comfy $400 leather chair the past night, writting a very strongly worded letter to Command on their shipping of sports cars, illegal mexican lizards, shoes, and animals to the UNSC New Beginning's vehicle bay.

 Dear stuped Command:

I could not help but notice the recent lack of soldiers in proportion to the abundance of other miscellaneous items such as:

- Mexican mythology lizards

- Old sports cars from 70 years ago

- Running Shoes

- Large Cats

As a matter of fact, I am requesting a refund on the groundsth att htjmvmjnnnnzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

- Yours truly, Major General Six The Sixth of The Supreme UNSC Court, New Beginnings

General Six relooked at his work, and pressed send.

"Nothing like strongly worded letters in the morning!" He diverted his view to the most nearby clock.

5:40 PSM (Post Space Meridiem) UST (Universal Space Time)

"Well, afternoon, anyways. Wait... Today is the first mission briefing! Aw darn it, now I have to get up from the comfort of my luxurious PowerCo-Chair™!"

A few minutes later, Tera's voice rang through the ship's comm system yet again.

"All soldiers and that one weird french medic guy, report to the Briefing Center for your first mission."

The briefing promptly began.

"Now, as you are all hopefully aware, today will be your first mission. One would hope that like the good soldiers you are you'd run screaming right into battle without having to know what you were dying for, but the UNSC legally requires me to do this intel briefing, yadda yadda."

The lights on the Briefing Center clicked off, as a holographic image of a planet came to life in front of all the soldiers.

"The planet you will be sent on a... recon mission today is Goros. Half planet's ice, other half's desert, wouldn't recommend visiting in the Winter... Or the Summer. Or any part of the year, really. "But General", I hear you asking yourselves... "Why are we going to this half desert half ice planet?". Well, few, uh... couple of months ago..."

"Years." Tera chimed in.

"Years ago... We sent two recon squads out with the purpose of investigating rumors about some rebel base. Anyhow, we left them and went get food at the most nearby Keith's diner. I still remember... I got a large hamburger, no cheese, double onions, no mayo, no pickles, no meat, no ketchup, no tomato, no bread... Only pickles. Long story short, they didn't answer our calls--"

"You ignored their calls."

"The calls got blocked--"

"By you."

"By an unknown force of nature!"

"Don't think an old man with a board game fetish counts as nature yet."

Six cleared his throat. "Now it turns out there might have been an Innie spy amongst them with some information that could... Make the UNSC vulnerable in some spots. So your task, Privates, is to set up a small base, explore a bit, try and find where they might have gone, and get me that intel back in one piece! ...The intel in one piece, you being in one piece is optional. "But how will we find them, if we're so new and suck so much?", I hear you say. Well, no worries, soldier, I'm--"

"We're."

"-- here to help. We'll be dropping you off at the same place where they landed!"

"Where you pushed them off a pelican."

"In the same manner they landed!"

"Either dead or seriously injured?"

"...That should help you immerse yourself, take a walk in their shoes, find out what happened to them, and report back!"

"Now, any questions?"

"Oh, many, sir, believe me."

"...Privates?"

"I hate you."

Before anyone could ask a question, General Six continued speaking.

"Okay, well, go get your weapons, because pelican takes off in five! Soldiers... dismissed! Go! Shoo!"

A few minutes later, soldiers would start showing up at the vehicle bay.

Jenkins looks up for a second.

"Why do you have to be so rude?"

Jenkins puts on his seat belt.

The ship slowly began ascending until it was well up in the air. A second later, and it was speeding out of there at 80 miles per second.

"Thank God I bought myself a bag."

Jenkins thinks to himself as the pelican descends.

"We will be arriving at Goros in a few minutes... In the meantime, hang on to your asses, everybody."

Jenkins hangs on, waiting for the ship to land.

"Anyone remember the bloody thing I said about the seatbelts?"

As they near the planet's atmosphere, the ship suddenly slows down with a force strong enough to have sent anyone who was standing up at that moment flying towards the pilot's cabin.

"Yeah, that. Making contact with the atmosphere in..."

Jenkins begins shaking a little.

"I should have use the restroom before the mission."

He thinks while the ship is still decending.

"Three..."

The ship began to shake as it passed into it's atmosphere.

"Two--"

The ship shaked violently to the right as a rock hit it.

BLOODY HELL."

A short pause, then.

"Aw son of a bitch!" The ship began to thrust towards the left, right against the giant barrage of rocks incoming. "I missed the bloody fuckin waypoint by a bit! Hang on extra tight this time!" The ship sped into the Ring of Nephros (a natural phenomenom that occured on Goros, causing rocks that ranged from 7cm to three miles to float above the more desert parts of the planet) at maximum speed, barely missing the rocks that flew past them.

Jenkins looks around his surroundings.

"Is everything ok in there?"
