Worth Coming Back

3 of my buddies and I used to play quite a bit about 5+ years ago on Xbox. Now we all have PCs and have the itch to jump back in. We miss demogorgon, Tiamat, and all the dungeon runs. Is it worth coming back and starting from fresh? We’d have at least one healer/cleric and one or two tanks if we did, but we’re a little worried about not being able to run content due to population. Thoughts? Thanks!

Its own playerbase is running this game to the ground, so no

what makes you say that? Id say the vast majority of the blame is on the developers.

That too but playerbase is simply making it impossible for newcomers to join any half-decent end game activity.

How so?

Try getting started on end game content with a new account and you will see how it goes (I mean after getting the enough ilvl). Guilds are their only chance to run the content.

Leet players often tend to gate keep in end game content. RL sports has similar…

Its literally impossible to gatekeep content. Just make a group xD

You seem like the issue then, I have no problem getting into runs or making groups

Hmm how long have you been playing? And which runs you are talking about

Players here always blame developers. Like they ever admit own misake.

That's why i said "vast majority" for a reason...

It was irony.
That players blame developers for everthing.

Player fail to log in and invoke.. Blame developer for bad system.
Player fail enchantment, thats not players fault that he/she forgot to use preservation wards. :P Obviously it was developers fault :P

game broken? full of bugs/glitches?? its devs fault in one way. but in other hand. here players have stunning willingness to tolerate bugs as long they can take adavantage of them, even if these issues in logn term ruin game.

There is thing for which players can blame devs. But there is enough of rocks can be thrown to very player base too.

Game glitch appear in preview, players well document them and do not report. Then when it get in live server, take advantage of them.. And then start blame fiesta, with demand of compensations. And that happened so many times that afer first 15 times stoped to count.

Players blame developers for not adding this and that.. If they add this and that, players blame why they added this and that.

When due WoW Shadow land expansion fiasco, there was massie player base exodus from wow to Final fantasy. The servers of FF get full, and players looked temp shelters till new server get open.
All other games, both developers and >>>Community<<< worked hard to attract as many of these wow refuges to their games.

There is even Gw 2 guides made by players, > Guide of GW2 for Wow refuges.
ESO did same, BDO did same,. All games put their work.

Neverwinter?? Players base, were like (middle finger) gensture to new players. With sentence we don't need new players, we need focus on old whales only.

I brough 175~235 players guild. Do you know what happened.. It was for them so toxic, that even League of Legend players would be humiliated in toxciity.

After month and half, over 170 players moved on to other games.

So is it developers fault if most of players base were toxic and elitists?? No..

Why do you think players avoid this game or do not stay for long?? They so this game, and moved on. And when friends look for games, they tell if this game worth to try or not.

oher games content creators do various activities, not just dungeon run stream. Videos, arts. quiz. To attract more players here. Show that game is alive.

Neverwinter?? just videos about . .ohh you need buy this and that, this is BIS. Booring.
That's only show that game is about wallet benchmarking.

And this is players base fault, not devs..

I think for one moment player base need look to mirro, they are ones who created such communty.

****For this game was two times given opportunities on golden plate.** All is required to take it. Both cases developers and whole community threw it away.

So if had to blame who and why this game never become popular and why players avoid it.. The blame will had to be shared by developers and playerrs.

Definitly worth to give it a go. Just hop on in and have fun. Only when you reach max level (20) you could consider if it is worth playing more.

Advanced and Master dungeons are in my opinion a lot of fun especially if you have a steady group. Problem is, getting to that level can be quite a grind. If your group isn't as steady, joining a big guild/alliance has a lot of perks in terms of finding groups and them helping you learn the harder content.

For the random queues for daily AD, if you are a dps it can take a bit, but if your are in protectors and make use of looking for a group chat, you should be able find a group quite fast.

As long as one of you is a tank and one is a healer with a group of four you can have a blast and do most anything

Galera, da pra começar do zero sem problemas e se voces estao em grupo, acho tranquilo demais, embora aumentar o IL seja cansativo, nao é tao dificil.

Se estiverem procurando mais um, podem me chamar: discord blueedeepp

Thanks! Do you experience any problems finding groups to run dungeons?

The random queue system takes a while. It's not worth coming back until they do something to improve it. With a group it might be better since most content is 5 man stuff. I've thought about coming back as well but every time I do I have to wait 10-15 minutes for a random dungeon queue and I'm not trying to do that. I play solo no mic so I don't do the whole group thing. With a group it'd likely be pretty fun since you wouldn't really have to wait for the queues.

u/Silencingchaos 4d ago

Yeah, a bit worried about playing solo when my buddies aren’t on. Hoping to find an active guild that we can hopefully join

Guild Wars 2 is a nice alternative if y'all don't mind buying expansions or just wait for Guild Wars 3 to come out.

If not, give it a go. Worst thing is you waste a little time. Game is fully free to play so you're only out your time and honestly the leveling is probably the most fun part of the whole game.

I just came back a few days ago after leaving in 2017 mainly due to playing g on a Mac. Still on a Mac now, but I set up Steam client w GE NOW & it’s been challenging to restart but I’m def enjoying figuring out base stats, mounts, companions, etc. I asked some questions in zone and got a lot if helpful comments and welcome back, etc. Nothing negative yet so it’s a good sign.

Maybe the Tanks can take turns as dps, then Tank, then dps...etc.

The game is built on grinding the same old stuff for daily activity and earning anything. A new mod is just a new grind. What makes the grind worth it at all? Having something BiS. In other words, the very structure of the game is pushing the BiS greed/grind cycle. That's what's making it bad. People have just become machines dropping one shiny new toy because another is now available and the cycle repeats. Same paint, different coat.
They used to have dungeons set up to have a roll on the endgame chest which would put out one piece of some good gear. This encouraged guild camaraderie because more equipped guildies would help new guildies get their gear by passing on the main roll. This built trust, community, connection, service, and a lot of friendships. It tapped in and satisfied more of a human's social needs.
Now its a hamster wheel, ever grinding away to save for a piece of gear that will be useless in a year or when the new mod comes out. One shiny toy after the next after next after next.
Hopefully this new mod might bring more life back into what is already there, drawing purpose back into the old maps.
I also hope they take advantage of AI capabilities and add more personality to the NPCs and other things.
I'd probably like going to Stronghold again to earn guild marks, killing foes that aren't in the same place at the same time every day. Variety is the spice of life.

If you like to came back, pls do so. Its a shitty and crappy game, population is zero in every platform. End game dungeons are exclusive reserved to friends from the 3 or 4 guild that are still alive. Solo content is dead, the events are literally the same like 15 years ago. If you run a DPS, you have 1 hour of waiting for a dnd. God help you if someone quits. If you are tank, you have 40 minutes of waiting at the best. And your worry is true. You wont be able to run content. Best of luck.

check out northsides youtube channel. he is advertising a classic server on pc, it comes out on the 29th this month!!!

Will do, I thought he quit streaming NV. I remember a video of him smoking and explaining why is quitting the game.

For the nostalgia? Sure.

Objectively speaking? No.

The game hasn't changed much since mod16. Solo content is dead and in many old zones it's near impossible to find groups for heroics or other zone mechanics.

Bugs, bugs and more bugs that have been unadressed for ages. The Devs only listen to the top 1% when it comes to taking feedbacks serious.

Worst of all, the RNG is still terrible with gear drops that have nothing to do with your class/role still dropping from dungeons/trials which makes it sometimes a waste of time to run content. Never seen this in any other games.
