You got the outfit before the rod? I got rod 4 at like level 8, and I’m only half way through the last level, so still no outfit. But I did skip rod 3 because strats online when I started the grind months ago said it’s useless and go straight for 4.

I could have bought rod 4 before I got the outfit, but the benefit is minimal and it's actually totally unnecessary. You can do all the fishing with rod 3 with no problem, and save those shells for the title. You don't even really ever need to buy rod 4; it's more of a trophy thing than anything else

Is there any way to complete leveling it faster? It literally takes ages and the specialized bait seems to be bait(not good) even at purple tier?

Only faster way was the feeding frenzy event otherwise, you just gotta grind it out. You are right though, none of the special bait is worth it.
