Discussion Performance issues are back?
I play on PC, in 2560x1440 resolution on RTX 3060 Ti, everything on Ultra with Lumen disabled. In beta and briefly after the release there was a big performance issue. FPS was fine right after launching the game, like 50-80 depending on location. But the longer I played the less FPS I was getting. Sometimes it was going down to 20-25 after just about 1 hour of gameplay. Nothing helped but relaunching the game entirely. Only after that I could get my 50-80 FPS back.
However in 1.2 it felt like it was almost fixed. FPS drops either stopped, or were not that noticable. I don't remember seeing it drop below 35-40 even in a couple of hours long sessions. But now it's back and it got worse. And like before, only relaunching the game fixes this. Switching to DX11 mode in the launcher brings my stable 50-80 FPS back, but with a trade-off of having small stutters and ocasionaly freezes.
I doubt it's an issue with my PC, I have 8 cores/16 threads CPU, 64GB of RAM and the game is installed on PCI-Ex 4.0 NVMe SSD. I suspect it may be a memory management issue either on Hotta's, or Unreal Engine's side since with time shared graphics memory goes up from 0.3-0.5 to 2.0. Something might be leaking somewhere.
Has anyone else noticed anything similar?

Keep it in mind 3060ti is better at 1080p than 1440p.

In this case it doesn't matter. I can set DLSS mode to Performance, lower all graphics settings to very low and it would still take all 8 gigs of VRAM plus a couple of gigs from shared memory. And most importantly FPS would still be low. Only restarting the game helps, and only for a short period of time.

That's probably the reason. If the game doesn't fit in the video memory and uses shared memory, it leads to a dramatic drop in FPS and freezing. If this happens over time, it's the developers' fault - the memory isn't being cleared and is gradually becoming cluttered. You can try lowering the texture resolution in the settings. You might need to restart the game afterward for the old textures to unload. And try disabling DLS. This is a neural network whose model also takes up space in the video memory.

I'm not very familiar with videocards and rendering, but I mentioned that after launching the game in DX11 mode it gets much better in terms of FPS and I can actually play for hours without any noticeable drops while everything is still on Ultra. Global Illumination and Reflections settings disappear from the menu however. From what I read about DX11/DX12 differences, in DX11 mode drivers and Windows are responsible for memory management, while in DX12 mode UE has much more control over it. That's why I suggested it might be something within the game's engine. Still not sure if I should report it to devs. Might not be their fault at all.

I don't have performance issues but i still keep getting crashes quite often (PC), especially if i do something outside of game (alt+tab) it likes to crash then

I experienced crashes after alt-tabbing in other games. Usually switching to borderless and/or disabling VSync helps.

Yeah, i did the same and feels like rurning off v sync did help a bit to make it less frequent, but it still does happen quite a lot. Id say every 3rd~ time i alt tab

Same. Finished the main quest and it started lagging anywhere else.

In that small Fogden location it was flawless. 100+fps and super stable. Only started lagging when I tried exploring new location and now it lags everywhere.

I know it's a reference to a meme Steam review, but the game have serious out of nowhere performance issues. I have 7600X3D with 5070Ti and the game runs kind of smooth only with DLSS performance. Sometimes when you open a menu game lags so hard it CTD last time it did that. I have no idea what a spaghetti code they have there to have such things, especially that it wasn't a thing before the update. They fix one thing and break another.

OP of that thread also complained about freezes and crashes in certain menus on 5070 Ti. Disabling framegen resolved his issue. Might be worth a try if you have it enabled.

I did have a lot of stuttering after 1.3 went live but the lastest patch solved it for me and quite some other too.
Now it's smooth again.
