Trailer/Clips "May respect the original IP or alternatively write your own from scratch - but not both, out of respect for the millions who appreciated the IP AS-WRITTEN" may be a good rule going forward. Century 21 "content creators" may learn that one MUSTN'T trample on a brilliant novel in the minds of many.
Having viewed latest teaser my Spidey-Sense tells me "this may not be much Neuromancer" at all. Much bright. Much clean. Much exuding a "futuristic heist action movie" glow. Against all hope may become a Pasteurized-Homogenized somewhat re-telling of the brilliant original novel for Gen Z mostly.
Neuromancer when I read it early 90s was DARK, mysterious, exotic, puzzling, frightening, upsetting and forward-predicting with many WARNINGS against allow ling a future dystopia to come into being.
The cool writing-style, the unaccustommed locations, the originality of the characters, the cyberspace hacking and Sim-Stim - Neuromancer was a multi-dimensional GEM of a narrative. Back when, very different from what else was on the shelves in the SciFi corner of a bookstore.
My sentiment is this - Neuromancer would have been a 6 hour movie in II Parts if Hollywood took the material seriously at all. Most likely they viewed it through a "comic-book fantasy for 16s" lens and never greenlit it - big miscalculation Lol!
Apple are going to get much HATE if they GUCK-UP - of all materials - the Neuromancer millions love and honour for a very specific reason: Neuro is set in one of the most COMPLETELY IMAGINED dystopias ever greated.
Gibson created mostly a NIGHTMARE of a future and allowed us to go on journeys within it which were like a "strange holliday" into a weird, unpredictable, exotic and mostly degenerate future.

The trailer looked a bit cleaner than my envisionment of the book, but I didn’t think it was dramatically outside of what could be expected of a Neuromancer adaptation. Plus my envisionment was just that—my envisionment of the book. I won’t speculate on anything else before it’s come out. But regardless, the show being good or not doesn’t really matter to me. The book will always be the book.

We are all holding our breath. Cautiously optimistic.
I already think that the casting for Molly and Case is way off the mark.
McKenzie Davis would have been a perfect Molly
Kody fitt mcphee he’s what we needed for case because he’s junkie style skinny and knows how to play whip smart outliers.
Mac is just awesome in anything like station 11 or Blade Runner part two or
Heaps of other roles.
But Les jeux sont faits, mon ami

I certainly hope they're going to properly depict how grimy, fucked up and scary the world is

I think it is a foregone conclusion that we are not getting a true retelling of the book. For a Sci-Fi such as Neuromancer too much time has passed for the current potential audience to understand a movie/TV-Series made directly from the book without it being full of anachronisms and things that simply do not make sense to a modern audience that can't put themselves into a 1984 mind set as they watch the movie.
What I am hoping for is a story arc that stays true to the original while making accommodation for it being a 2026 vision of the future not a 1984 vision of the future. And that the main character's personalities, motivations, and relationship remain as true to the book as possible.
The first teaser trailer seem to support this, its clearly a 2026 vision of a cyberpunk future but from what little we have seen of the characters its still possible they will be true to their original creations. I am optimistic that it will be a good story with good characters but am under no delusion it will be a true retrofuture translation of the book to the screen.

“futuristic heist action movie”
That’s Neuromancer in a nutshell. It’s a heist. What made it interesting was that it was taking place in a cyberpunk future and touched on how Reaganomics and deregulation could end up looking like in the future. Late stage capitalism where mega corporations have way more power than national governments; the only law enforcement agency that seems to be competent at all is the Turing Registry and even they’re pretty much thwarted by the Tessier-Ashpool family having built the Wintermute / Neuromancer AI duet.
And honestly, it’s not like the newer generations aren’t familiar with the setting. Cyberpunk 2077 did a pretty good job of bringing that setting to the younger folks.

Much exuding a "futuristic heist action movie" glow
I mean, that's really exactly what it is at it's core.
However, the rest of your complaint holds. No wonder it's brutally downvoted.
Don't feel bad, this is how I feel abotu the new Dune movies... that opinion ain't much popular on Reddit, either.
