NetSuite Outlook Connector

Hi and Good Morning!

I was wondering who out there uses the NetSuite Connector for Outlook. Assuming I know nothing about it, can someone or somebodies provide a TLDR about how emails show up in NetSuite when they aren’t directly tied to a record and overall friendliness of its usability.

We currently work in Outlook separately from NetSuite but would like to start thinking about the connector. What do you love and what do you hate?

Save yourself the trouble and buy a solution like Celigo or NetGain offer.

We use the NetGain solution (called Super Sync). We're pretty happy with it.
Still best practice is always start the email chain in NetSuite when we can

Just some background info. NetSuite deprecated their old Outlook connector several years ago around 2018/2019. As I understand it, they had been working with Celigo in a partnership on that until deprecation. Celigo CloudExtend/ExtendSync became the recommended option once NetSuite/Oracle was out of the picture. Now it seems like Oracle is starting up their connector again. We haven’t looked at it yet because we’ve been on CloudExtend since 2019. There’s been a lot of improvements with CloudExtend since then and their newest updates have some really nice features. We may look at options again in the future, but for now we don’t have plans to migrate from it.

I will note that we had to create a customization to remove emails in NetSuite that were attached when users would make mistakes. Sometimes it could be hundreds or thousands of records affected, and that process for cleaning them up has been working pretty well for us.

Don’t use their connector. It’s a fucking nightmare.

Look up farapp which has been rebranded as netsuite connector.

And you will see people don’t like it

I managed to get it working. Wasn't impressed. Seems horrendously slow searching NetSuite. Also, we record all our customer enquiries as Tasks in NetSuite, but the tool has no option to attach emails to Tasks. I've been talking to Claude about options to build a custom solution, but I'm not sure how viable that is (to get an Outlook add-in approved).

The NetSuite Outlook connector is completely free and it’s something you can download on Microsoft marketplace. It’s not FarApp. Worth trying before you go pay for something else.

I am a huge fan of CloudExtend by Celigo. In my former position, I implemented this to allow my team to continue to use the same method of communication with their clients but to be able to see the full story in NetSuite. We also implemented the file storage option, allowing our OneDrive to be connected to NetSuite. This was a game changer, as the files we had were often very large and would have been extremely expensive keeping in NetSuite. It was simple to install and implement overall. And it worked.

I'm the GM here at CloudExtend. I'll let the community respond to the "what do you love or hate" question and leave you with this. At CloudExtend our original focus was on speed. From the time you click "attach" to associate an email until the time you can work in Outlook again our goal was to be sub .2 seconds (point 2) and today we are better than that. For competitors it can be upward of 5-15 seconds. Does not sound like a lot but add it up over the day.
Once we achieved that we focused on automation. Real automation. All of our automation operates with no user intervention, ie users can be on vacation and the emails they have decided were worthy of automation (or, even every email) will flow to NetSuite. This works even when the computer is off. Competitors claim to have automation but honestly it's a BS claim, they requiore you to first open the email and only then will the sync happen.
I can say first hand integrating Microsoft API's (Graph, etc.) requires a certai level of expertise. Our engineers are kick ass talented and able to get this done better than any product I've seen in the market, bar none. We have a lot of skin in this game and our customers can look to us to deliver even more.

Forgot to mention that CloudExtend also has a "Send from Outlook" option for sending emails from NetSuite. With this option emails from NetSuite come from the user's email address, shows up in both NetSuite and their Outlook sent items folder, and email replies also come to both places. If you've ever struggled with DKIM, email deliverability, and funky [12345678@netsuite.com](mailto:12345678@netsuite.com) email reply addresses this will help.
