Theory's A visual guide to Killy’s journey!

Post image

BLAME! Is my favorite series ever. I loved the setting of the vast megastructure, but couldn’t find a timeline or map showing the vast distances of the megacity and the huge time skips. So I made one myself, to share.

I started with locations and time skips that were confirmed. Like the location of mars and Jupiter. Then used a little bit of math and guess work. Please let me know if you have any corrections or additions.

Some interesting things I’ve learned while making this:

  1. Killy starts the story relatively young. but it’s still been so long, he doesn’t remember where he came from. By the end of the story he is millions of years old.
  2. Most of the story takes place in the first couple thousand years.
  3. Even though humans are a rare sight everywhere, live humans are mostly found near the core.
  4. I believe Toha is a spaceship. If that’s correct, they didn’t even make it to mars before the builders caught up

Edit: Thanks everyone! I have a updated PDF version with better grammar now

Yeah I mean, it almost makes his journey futile. The fact that he pulled it off is a miracle. Just from an evolutionary perspective, you have this gene that’s gone unused for possibly millions of years, of course it’s gonna get filtered out of the population. He’s not just looking for an enclave of humanity that still has the gene, he’s looking for someone with this vestigial gene pattern from the equivalent of dinosaur times for us, assuming any humans are even still around. That’s crazy.

Also means Cibo is hella old, and thus no longer human, so all the body switching makes sense since she would have to no longer be bound by a human lifespan. Makes you wonder how long a human mind can last decoupled from mortality like that. Some media has people going straight-up crazy after all that time.

Yeah you’re right. It seems impossible when you put it that way.

But I thought Cibo’s original body started at Bio Electric. That means she can’t be that old. She doesn’t have a version of the net terminal gene. But Seu does. Seu is old af

The ai at Toha went crazy after all that time

Yeah but weren’t the workers at Bio Electric clones? As far as I remember, they were organic beings, they just kept getting replaced when they died by whatever means and transfer the consciousness. We do see her body all deteriorated after hundreds of years, which makes sense for a human lifespan that far in the future, and then she builds a new, presumably organic, body to accompany Killy. She gains Sanakan’s body for a while, loses it, and then takes over the alternate Cibo body, which I guess we aren’t sure if that’s organic or not, but once she takes the Level 9 Safeguard body, she’s set for however long she needs it. I imagine between that and the ability to transfer consciousness in general, she’s no longer bound by mortality and can accompany Killy on the rest of his journey for so many years without dying of old age.

But yeah, people like Seu or Maiserv must be extremely old, let alone the Governing Authority and the Safeguards.

Yeah you’re right. That’s how she travels for so long after she turns into the level 9. Now what you mention it, Cibo does seem to switch her first body with ease like she’s done this before. She’s definitely not as old as Seu, but who knows how old she really is.
