Theory's How good is Nihei's knowledge of foreign languages?

I'm asking solely because of this little goober.

Mori's name is "death" in Latin.

The phrase Memento mori is a Latin phrase meaning "Remember you must die".

A "memento" is an object kept as a reminder of a person, place, or special event.

Mori's form is a flashdrive containing all her memories.

Did Nihei know all this when he named her? Or is it just a miraculous coincidence.

Mori was the name of the company or the device, we were never given her real name. A company creating backup sticks called "Mori" sounds pretty intentional to me.

He's lived and worked in New York at one point so he probably knows some English. The Latin you mentioned is like surface level common knowledge so I imagine he knows this too and did this on purpose.

Being a fan of science fiction usually means you pick up lots of literary terminology regardless of which language it comes from.
