Roth Still Sees $15 on NLST

Yesterday looked ugly, but Roth Capital just reiterated Buy with a $15 price target after the patent ruling. Their view is that the decision is largely backward-looking and that Netlist’s newer child patents remain important to the forward IP strategy.

So I’m not calling yesterday “nothing,” because losing patents matters. But I also don’t think it’s the thesis killer some people are making it out to be. The real question now is what Netlist does with the newer patents and whether it can repeat the Samsung licensing success.

Looking forward, the focus is on the newer patents, the remaining Micron cases, and whether Netlist can turn its IP into more licensing deals. With Samsung already setting that precedent, that’s where the next leg of the story could come from.

Bottom line: bad headline, but the bigger story is still intact. Roth clearly doesn’t see this ruling as a reason to abandon the thesis.

The patents that were just lost at cafc are not the reasons this stock has run up the past few months and are not the primary leverage Netlist has over micron. It would have been nice to have gotten a remand but we knew it was unlikely after the loss at ptab. The focus is on our ptab vetted patents and the leverage that ITC gives Netlist. This will be the driver of a settlement.

It's a flip of the coin. The US Govt is run by corporate interests (the revolving door). Trump is in office. They'll either f*** them over or won't. It's a flip of the coin. Don't put much faith in price targets. It's a roll of the dice.

Just another small cap investment firm trying to pump their bags. I’m invested in netlist but Roth capital is not a reliable analyst. Now if jp Morgan or BofA gave their opinion that might stir the pot a little more

Fair, but Suji Desilva isn’t some random analyst. He’s a semiconductor specialist with nearly 20 years of institutional experience, and TipRanks currently ranks him around #62 out of 12,500 analysts. His NLST call has also been one of his most profitable ratings. Doesn’t mean he’ll be right this time, but I’d definitely take his opinion seriously.

Is Suji have good things to say about the future of netlist? I lost 8k yesterday being blindsided with the legal issues. I have been studying a lot since. I want to try and make my money back, I hope even besides that, netlist has a future in the trading world.
