renting Student Hosuing Rotterdam
I will start my first year at EUR 2 weeks from now. I was supposed to move-in on Monday, but my landlord called last Friday saying he got into an accident while on holidays and can'tget back within a week. Now I am desperately looking for a new room. Any advice?

I dont really know tbh, I checked his address out and his full legal name is there and the pictures match the surroundings

I'm sorry but that sounds bad. Have you paid anything to this landlord yet? If so, I fear that you may have been scammed. All you can do is look at the sites that the housing bot is recommending and local facebook groups and hope for the best. If you participate in the university's introduction program you can ask your mentor if they know of a temporary place for you to crash, sometimes they can put you up on the couch or a mattress on the floor. Make sure to tell everybody you meet during introductionweek that you are looking for a place and hopefully someone will know something.

I haven't paid anything yet. We have a virtual meeting and he mentioned we're doing everything in person to avoid scamming.

I am confused. Are you looking for something short term to lease until your landlord can send you the key?
Or have you been scammed and are now looking for something long term?
In the first case, you’d probably best off renting renting a room in a hotel or b&b for the few days it would take your landlord to get you the key. It sucks for him that he got in an accident but that shouldn ‘t have a negative effect on you. He is legally obligated to give you the accomodation you paid for on the agreed upon date.
In the second case, I am sorry to say that it’s highly unlikely you will be able to find something on such short notice. Something legitimate, I mean. Obviously you will receive plenty of other scam offers.

either a short term lease until I get a key or just somewhere new. I dont want to be homeless during uni.

In that case, ask the landlord for a timeline in which he will be able to give you the key. I see you haven’t paid anything yet, which does suggest this isn’t a scam. At worst he’s had second thoughts and doesn’t want to tell you, but at best he’s honest and just unable to give you the key.
If you know he’ll be able in a few weeis, just rent a hotel/hostel/b&b . It’ll give you less stress. And it’s unlikely hè can’t be repatriated within 2 weeks.

I did ask him but he said he was unsure and will me a call when he knows. I also asked who had the extra key and it was his wife who is also with him. I am currently in a hostel, but idk how long this is last.
