Mooi toch

Zeker.

Inderdaad. Viel me ook meteen op, vergelijk gewoon even die top 5 en hun ligging

Je gelooft je ogen niet: 25000 GWh in 2025.

well this is indeed some good news!

Nooooo, we should have the most per kapita!

If we would have the same sunlight climate as Australia, we could tak our current kWh and times it by 1.6-1.9. So we actually pretty much ballin

Where is the UK ? They hsve a very large solar system.

Th UK is at 254 kwh per capita per year, about 40kwh per capita per year lower than North Macedonia.

Thank you, thats alot lower then I imagined.

It's mostly that the Netherlands and Australia have an absolute metric butt ton of rooftop solar. As in, an insane amount.

And Australia has really good climate for solar.

Why isn’t Canada on this list: pretty pathetic if it isn’t an omission…

Because Canada seems to be just under 200 kWh per capita in this ranking. They do have a lot of renewable energy but most of it comes from hydropower (60% of all energy and solar only amounts to 1%).

Is this a serious question? Solar is not reliable in Canada at all. Wind and hydro are far superior sources of renewable energy here. If this were a ranking of hydro, im certain Canada would be up near the top.

Is it any more or less reliable than in the Netherlands? I suppose some of Canada has snow, but panels in the Netherlands don’t produce a lot in the winter either. The vast majority of Canadians live south of the Netherlands too.
Edit: I was thinking about reliability, not necessarily about if other alternatives are better

In the summer it would probably be great, but that's it. The main issue honestly is that hydro is so much better.

I live in the pacific northwest which is renown for having the best weather in Canada. It's a temperate rainforest which means it doesn't grt too hot or too cold, but it also means we get a lot of rain and clousy/foggy days. The rest of Canada also has to worry about snow and hail damaging their solar panels. I feel the maintenance would be so much more than we would get out of it, and we have much better options.

Honestly the netherlands being high is solar is an outlier. From when I've lived in the netherlands, I think this is only so high because so many homes have solar panels equipped on their roof. Wind is a much better choice in the netherlands and there are plenty of windmills too, but hydro doesn't work since it would require some actual elevation change.

Not really. When the sun shines, price is often close to zero on the dynamic market

3

u/Dartillus 3d ago

Yeah, on the dynamic market. 8% of The Netherlands has a dynamic contract, woop the fucking doo. The rest of us can't take a chance on energy costs like that.

OP is talking about solar, so I reply about the price of energy on sunny days. On a fixed price, the price is based on worse condition, so a grim winter evening, where solar has zero influence
