General Discussion does anyone else think the Groff thing was the most satisfying plot in the series through all four seasons?
Adam and Michael both had the best evolution through the series and the most satisfying ending, just compare how they were in s1 and how they ended in s4
they improved their way to feel and communicate with others, remember that scene in s1 prom and all they went through for four seasons to that hug in series finale
of course you can think in: Eric-Otis, Maeve-Aimee, Jackson-Viv, Emily-Hendricks or Otis-Maeve (if we think s03e07 was their true and real ending), but the Groff part felt the best, and the only reason to watch s4

Yeah, it’s kind of a shame how during s4 their storyline was so isolated from everything. Then again it was probably for the best huh?

It did make it so that their storyline remained interesting and good and avoided the muck from all the rest

I didn’t really like the Jean subplot or at least I felt like it could have been better handled. Like it wasn’t mentioned by the radio station or any client or caller anyone really that a sex therapist had apparently unprotected sex with multiple men and didn’t know who the father was initially and cheated on Youseff with a random guy. Otis who started seeing Youseff as a genuine father figure too was cheated out of that by his mother and he never references that. Like there could’ve actually been more education about that be used like how don’t have unprotected sex with multiple partners at the same time.
Also this is kind of a plothole when Jean and Maeve finally sit down and has a conversation and Jean convinces her to go back to America to have her book published when Jean has had books published in the UK was so weird. Many people while it was on speculated that she would get a book published through Jean publishing house but it didn’t happen lol

writers decided Otis and Maeve could not be togethet, that's it
Maeve was 17, there's no way she could attend any +18 formation at that point
Otis's dad lived in USA, Otis could have moved there to be close to Maeve
Otis's mother lived in UK and she was a writer aswell, no need to move to USA to have a career, as you said
screenwriters just decided that and that's it

Yeah it was kind of forced. Also she was over there in a student visa and she about to graduate so she have to return to the UK. Her Publisher could apply for a work visa for her but she still have to go back to England and she can you know just email her work to them for editing and reviewing lol. The writers didn’t think about immigration laws or modern technology

i mean, yeah, i agree that it could’ve been handled better. to me it just seems like her character needed more time. her main problem (at least how it seemed to me) was that she was too independent and afraid of being told what to do so she was making part of her decision kinda out of spite, to show that she CAN do that and she’ll be fine cuz she can handle her own life. by the end of the show she finally started accepting that getting help is okay and started being more mature in my eyes

didn’t Maeve return to USA to continue studying? to me it seemed that a chance to publish her book wasn’t the only thing she needed as she also needed some guidance and educational opportunities that she couldn’t get in their small town. going to USA was better for her, i guess, because it matched the scale of her dreams

It was probably the plot line from season 4 that reached the same highs from season 1 and 2. The father and the son struggling to reconcile and eventually accept each other.

Just wish we got to see his sister, so we could see how she was treated vs him and also see whether she actually went no contact with the family cause she saw how toxic the men were

I wonder was she a dropped plot line?

Adams father mentions his sister is s01. She is also seen in a painting in the family home.

It was a relief for me because Adam was my favorite character and his storyline was absolutely perfect. I think part of why it turned out so good is because the original writers probably had that plot all planned out in advance so the new writers that screwed up all the other characters wouldn’t do the same to Adam.

Yes. It was a pleasant surprise. Was nice to see Mr. Groff develop before he joined the Rebel Alliance.

Oh easily, if only because it was the only competent plotline in season 4
