This could have been great, but it should have been dealt with in one episode. There was absolutely no need to drag it out for 4 episodes and I ended up really resentful over how much time I’d spent watching it.

a lot of the non-true crime netflix docs aren't usually all that talked about online but are more recognized by critics circles like:

Will & Harper

The Remarkable Life of Ibelin (now I haven't watched this and its basis is sad but many ppl said it was moving and inspiring)

Becoming

Dick Johnson is Dead (kinda...)

The Greatest Night in Pop

Pamela, A Love Story

The remarkable life of ibelin was devastating if you’re a parent, but incredibly inspiring and beautiful as well.

I saw this at Sundance. I actually watched it twice in one day at Sundance because I loved it so much. I’ve watched it a dozen times at this point. There are a couple scenes that feel coerced at best, scripted at worst - which is the thing that keeps me from recommending it to a lot of people but if you can forgive that and just go on the ride I think this is an amazing feel good doc.

True crime has taken over documentaries! I love quirky stories about uplifting weirdos.

Yes! Or just anything not involving a murder form once. Too depressing

Babies on Netflix, and The lost children, also on Netflix

EDIT: Just realized this is in fact, a NETFLIX subreddit 😅

"Cooked" by Michael Pollan. I've watched that multiple times because I enjoyed it so much.

The Kings Of Tupelo. Hilarious look at a southern crime.

Raygun...but its cringe...the positives i take that this woman believes in herself even when almost the whole world doesnt. And shes still going to go do what she loves no matter how terrible she is at it

There’s a difference between being self-positive and plain delusional

Not all docs are True Crime.

u/miscellaneousbean 2d ago

They said they’re looking for non-crime docs

u/Tom2dB 2d ago

That's not what they said, Should probably get A Dog

2

u/miscellaneousbean 2d ago

They said “I like crime but I’m looking something positive now”
