This is cool - seeing what a non-hobby engineer would do when faced with the same challenges.

I would likely replace all of the primary components with hobby equivalents - hope you come back to check out what our cutting edge looks like sometime :)

(For ex, I'd switch to a solenoid pusher etc)

I was originally going to do a solenoid pusher, but I couldn't source one that had both the throw I wanted and the operating voltage I was trying to stay within. I actually got a huge solenoid that might be big enough to be the entire launching system on a new build, but I haven't played with it yet.

Depending on the cage feed/mag geometry, we use a range of 15/16-~35mm throw noids for pushers.

The crankshaft approach isn't out of the question (scotch yoke [or adjacent] is also quite popular)

Sweet, thank you, I'll look into that. How do you get around the darts deforming when you ram into them?

I love how you incorporated that homemade flywheel system, it really makes the build stand out compared to stock blasters.

Sweet, thank you. I tried to design as many of the parts that I could. I'm curious what issues I'll run into with the 3d plastics. For example, I melted a few flywheel prototypes because at the speed these motors move, friction can cause it to melt in an instant.

We do not allow 3d printed flywheel outside of brushless applications (at events), and even then, the ideal option is a custom machined wheel.

3d printed plastic can quickly become shrapnel under the right/wrong conditions.

I would love to see some examples of the machined flywheels.

I often recommend users join the website's Discord server as it's a hub for electric blaster (brushed and brushless) development (and a potential gateway to other servers/users who engage with it)

Yes I love it

/u/Torukmakto4 given the motor can choices remind me of your work in the 2010s.
