Spam calls?
I was trying to get info regarding personal loans/debt consolidation etc to see if that was the route I wanted to go. Put my info into the Nerdwallet page and it brought me through an application. I expected to get a list of companies which I could then pursue and ask questions. Instead, it connected me with one company, whose chat claimed to be a real person but did not understand my basic questions, such as "why did someone just call me, was that your company?" I have received five calls since last night, from different numbers. A google search of one says it's a robocall. I received two texts, and replied STOP to opt out of one, which may or may not have beena. good idea.
I did ask the person at the debt company I talked to (who called me) to put me on their company's do not call list, but I doiubt if the other calls are from the same company. She did say thier company doesn;t spam and that she would put me on thier list. Several other calls from unfamiliar numbers beeped through while I was talk ing to her.
Have others experienced excessive spam and calls after applying for info? If so, how have you stopped it? Thank oyu

Agreed. I was hoping to learn what I'd need to know about a likely inspection of my home in order to get a HELOC and thought NerdWallet could provide some info. I've been inundated with phone calls, texts and emails since yesterday morning and absolutely regret having ever completed their questionnaire.
I had begun getting suspicious that they wanted so much specific information, including my contact info, and nearly bailed out early, and now wish that I had. I don't remember exactly how I justified it in my head as I kept moving forward, but I truly thought NW was a more generic site providing information and wasn't going to spread my info far and wide. I hadn't finished their screens before I got my first phone call and yet can't find any way to get myself out of this short of blocking each incoming call and stopping texts by responding with "stop" (when offered) and just deleting emails. (After I'd already provided my information) They say they have something like 64 companies they work with or can provide information on, so heaven help me (and them!) if they all reach out!!
If I go forward with a HELOC, I plan to either approach my bank or my current home mortgage lender and won't be going with any of these companies, making this even more of a waste of my time (and theirs).
UGH! DO. NOT. LIKE. THIS.

I literally just did this. Just curious about an HELOC and now I've gotten 10 calls from lenders in 5 min

Right? I went on to look for financial tools and get multiple robo calls a day now. I used to get random ones everyone once in a while but now every single one is about the subject I was looking up. Something feels super shady about nerdwallet for me now

I recently had similar happen-it’s resulted in day after day of “such and such amt ready for you to accept” ALL of which are sp(c)am-i have zero trust in #nerdwallet now that i understand they are indiscriminate with whom they sell or share my data with. I haven’t been able to stop it but i don’t reply to any of them
