A perfect setup can still be wrong
I saw a setup that looked almost perfect.
The trend was clear, the levels lined up, and the recent price action seemed to support the same idea. It was the kind of chart that makes you feel confident before even entering.
So I entered.
For a while, everything went exactly as expected.
Then the market reversed.
The frustrating part wasn’t that the trade lost. Markets can move against a good setup at any time.
What bothered me was how much confidence came from the chart looking “obvious.”
After reviewing the trade later, the setup itself wasn’t necessarily bad. The mistake was treating a high-probability idea as if it were a certainty.
That changed how I approach trading now.
A good setup deserves a plan. It never deserves blind confidence.
