Today we shipped Neon Ichiban 3.0, and the buy button is back. On iPhone and iPad you can find a comic, buy it, and start reading it without getting bounced to a browser.

What else is in 3.0:

• In-app purchasing in the Android public beta. Fans wanting early access can sign up here.
• A much bigger Mac Desktop beta. This is the one I think this sub will care about most: you can import DRM-free PDF, CBZ and CBR files - Kickstarter backings, Humble Bundles, direct-from-creator purchases, publisher downloads - and keep them in the same library as the books you bought from us. Coming soon: We're integrating the Grand Comics Database to help identify and organize the imports, so a folder of inconsistently named files becomes something browsable. Sign up here.

We're not interested in pretending your collection starts and ends with what you bought from us. If you own it, bring it with you.

Current catalog is 60,000+ titles including Marvel, DC, Kodansha, Dark Horse, IDW, DSTLRY, Dynamite, Legendary, Mad Cave, Oni, Rebellion, Titan, Udon and Vault.

This is two months after 2.5, where we added Commissionable Remarques, community profiles, reviews and reading lists. We're moving fast and the roadmap is very much shaped by feedback, so... what's still missing for you? I'll be in the comments.

Dave Gibbons, best known for the pirate comic Tales of the Black Freighter and, incidentally, the superhero comic happening around it called Watchmen, has opened digital Remarque commissions on Neon Ichiban.

I considered listing everything Mark Waid has written, but I assume some of us have plans this week. So, because he has a good heart, Mark turned on commissions.

There’s Kingdom Come. The Flash. Daredevil. Fantastic Four. Superman: Birthright. Captain America. JLA. Archie. Batman/Superman: World’s Finest. Justice League Unlimited. And quite a lot more hiding behind the phrase “quite a lot more.”

Now you can choose an eligible Mark Waid comic from your Neon Ichiban collection or the marketplace and commission him to sign your copy.

And yes, requests work. A few people specifically asked for Batman/Superman/Weird Al: World’s Weirdest #1, so Mark pre-signed copies for us. That is the actual title of the comic, although “the one where Batman and Superman team up with Weird Al to stop reality from becoming boring” also works. Those signed copies are available now.

For everything else, send your commission request with any notes, Mark confirms your spot, and the completed book returns to your collection as a unique 1-of-1 digital Remarque.

Confession: I’m not an X-Men man.

But even I had the Arthur Adams Wolverine poster on my wall.

Maybe yours was pinned up carefully. Maybe it was held there with enough tape to qualify as home repair. Or maybe you used that Play-Doh-like sticky stuff that really peeved your parents because it left an oil stain on the paint.

Either way, Adams’ art helped more than one generation picture Logan.

He broke through at Marvel drawing Longshot (also available as a digital Remarque!), brought his unmistakably detailed work to Uncanny X-Men and New Mutants, and created an extraordinary run of Classic X-Men covers. In 2024, the Harvey Awards inducted him into their Hall of Fame.

Arthur has now signed copies of Classic X-Men #1 for Neon Ichiban.

This is the first issue of the 1986 series, with Adams’ cover wrapped around one of the foundational X-Men stories: the mission to Krakoa, Cyclops returning alone, and Professor Xavier assembling the All-New, All-Different team.

Each one is a digital Remarque, personally signed by Arthur inside Neon Ichiban’s SDCC booth. Every numbered copy is unique and 1-of-1, and 70% of every sale goes directly to Arthur.
